The place is top shelf. The staff were all terrific. We had an ocean facing view and the view from the room was great. Easy access to beach and pool area. The restaurant was very good with some cape malay influences. Location is close to town although up a hill. I would recommendMore

Two weeks ago, I telephoned the Plettenberg and booked a table for eight on Saturday evening.
Today they tried to phone me so we dropped in to the hotel.
An extremely arrogant Food & Beverage Manager told me that they could not honour the booking as they were fully booked. I argued that they had already accepted the booking. However, with no apology, he told us that they would not be able to accommodate us.
So if you make a reservation at this hotel, it doesn't mean that you actually have a reservation !

The only pity was we only had the one night! Excellent service throughout the hotel having had dinner, breakfast and a couple of bar drinks. Initial welcome set the tone, they really couldn’t do enough. Great sea and beach views from balcony room which was well decorated. Complimentary first mini bar fill a nice touch too.

The hotel is magnificent—unparalleled location, wonderful buildings, impeccable rooms and very elegant and tasteful décor throughout. The combination is stunning. What could possibly go wrong? Well, normally, anything and everything, but at The Plettenberg: Nothing. The hotel is superbly managed and administered, and gracious and enthusiastic hospitality abounds with every person on the hotel’s staff. We could go on and on in this vein, but you would be postponing the inevitable—book now and thank us later.

We spent three nights at this hotel at their villa the Beach House. The villa is beautifully appointed and spacious with a deck with a small private pool and sun loungers. The villa has a fantastic view of the ocean.
It contained a kitchenette, dining table, two bedrooms both ensuite, and a living room. We hardly left our villa during our stay as it contained everything you might possibly need.
The hotel itself also has spectacular views, a pool, a spa, bar and a restaurant. We had breakfast in the restaurant every morning. Excellent food and service.
Service was excellent throughout. Manager Melissa was very friendly and made sure we had everything we might need. The housekeeping was also spotless!
Highly recommended for a stay in Plettenberg.

Perfectly decent hotel with friendly, helpful staff and great views from the pool areas. There were no downsides with the exception of our room having no view other than the car park and the gym which could do with some more equipment and the treadmill being fixed. A lot of the guests seemed to be a bit older than us 60s and 70s mainly but that may simply reflect the price!

I appreciate your feedback and rating of your time at the Hotel. I do apologize for the treadmill being out of order. Unfortunately with the load shedding that the country is experiencing there was a power surge which caused the machine not to work.
Our entry level rooms are non sea facing please make sure to book a sea view room should you visit us again.
