On our way from Knysna to Storm River, we stopped (just east of Plett, along the N2) for lunch at the Bramon Restaurant Wine Estate, billed as “the only boutique wine estate restaurant in the middle of The Garden Route”. The food and tapas were great and it was lovely to dine outside, next to the vineyards. They have a wide selection of wines to go with the food and the service was prompt and professional. The food is tapas/mezze style and meant to be shared. The two of us shared a Greek salad, spinach and feta cigars, bobotie cigars, tempura baby calamari, goats cheese and marinara and a loaf of freshly baked bread. This was accompanied by glasses of the vineyard’s great sauvignon blanc. Desert was a dulche de leche brownie for my wife and an Alffogato-al-Café (vanilla ice cream in expresso) accompanies by cappuccinos. The menu suggested 2-3 dishes per person and what we ordered was more than enough. Not only was the food terrific, but the service was excellent (something all too rare in South African restaurants). If you are passing by or staying anywhere near The Crags, this place is not to be missed.
