Terrible experience! Won’t be back.
I’ve been going to Bramon annually for 7 years and I have never experienced such awful service and very below average experience. There seems to be new owners that only want to turn tables. They have lost the special spark Bramon once had. A group of 9 booked for the 3pm sitting. It was chaos from the moment we walked in. For a wine estate they only had two wines available the white wine available wasn’t even from their wine estate. There were numerous things crossed off the menu that they did not have. We received our food at 4pm, and hour after ordering and then were told leave at 4:45pm and could not order dessert. The manager seemed very rude. Very sad that this establishment just isn’t the same as what it used to be.

Dear Danielar,

We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience and appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. Bramon wines Wine takes reviews very seriously as it is our priority to ensure all guests receive an outstanding lunch experience, while in a safe and welcoming environment, it would help us if you could indicate what date you were there and what the name of the Manager is so we can investigate your complaint. we unfortunately had such a hectic season with our sales of wine going crazy that we run out of certain vintages. To correct you however is that the wine which has different name then Bramon are still made by our wine maker (unbeknown to many).

Unfortunately due to loss of our main manager we had to have a stand in and we experienced some slower service due to the higher number of guests.

We appreciate your helpful and constructive criticism, which will help our service become better in the future and we hope you will return for a great experience, as I can assure we will address the situation.I really would be grateful if you can send me a private mail at therestaurant@bramonwines.com so we can investigate and try to improve where things went wrong

Kind regards,

The Bramon Team

Was my favourite, but won’t be back. No warning when booking but on arrival get told we only have 2 hours. Constantly hurried along and rushed out when we were not finished. Really not enjoyable to be badgered to leave. Some might enjoy that, but it is not for me. Food and wine and location excellent.

Dear PeterArm,

unfortunately you saw the very worst that we could offer on the seating side and we cannot apologise enough to you. It was a day where it seemed to snowball, and everything on the table timings went wrong, and you did not get the service that we pride ourselves in...I hope this does not reflect too badly on us and maybe you can come back another day to see the better side of us. We realise it does not make your experience any better, but hope for your understanding. The 2 hours slots have always been there, and for some strange reason it went very wrong that day for which we strongly apologise.

Kind regards,

The Bramon Team

This was previously a highlight of our Plett experience, and while it is not quite as special or as slick as it used to be, it still serves up a good experience. The rosé was great and the food good. Suited to vegetarians. If you don't eat cheese, you may struggle with the menu. Bread also not quite as good as I remember. They undercooked meat and compensated with free coffee which was really appreciated. I hope they lift their game back to previous levels as the potential remains.

Dear JodiAnne,

Thanks for your positive review and your feedback which we certainly take very seriously. We apologise for the undercooked meat, and hope the free coffee was at least something that could make good the error from the kitchen.

I can assure you that the bread is exactly the same recipe as it aways been , but will certainly investigate what could have gone wrong, as we still get so many compliments about our bread.

On the 1st of January we had 2 tables booked, 1 in vineyard (which we didn’t get) and 1 inside. There we 2 employees trying to work out what to do with the growing queue of booked customers. They were flustered and unable to engage with the customers waiting to make us feel welcome. When the kitchen doors opened while we were waiting I could see it was in a mess with food on the floor. I wondered what would happen as this visit was eagerly anticipated. The food was great, some of the wines were sold out though. The service by the waiter was unprofessional and he kept interrupting us to clear plates as they wanted to close while we were still eating. When the bill came it was fairly high but we were just about to pay it when we decided to check how many of each item was charged. Oh my word, there were about 19 extra dishes charged for. We asked for the original order form however this never arrived and when we went inside everyone was huddled around the till re doing the bill. It went from R6001.00 to R4453.00. A R1600.00 difference ! Could this have been a mistake ? I do believe the owner/management should investigate this thoroughly and reply.

Dear 19640925

We are extremely alarmed by your statement regarding being overcharged during your lunch with us, we take these situations very seriously indeed. I am assuming that you booked the tables online at the several sections in our restaurant, We did have a situation that particular day that our restaurant managers were both ill and our back-up team had to step in , so that’s why it was chaotic at the start of service which we do apologize for.

As per your suggestion we did investigate the overcharging, which I believe was corrected immediately when it was discussed with management. Upon our investigation we found out that several minors (it was the second table with the kids) did order extra dishes for the second table and those were put on the same account ( assuming it was the same group that booked both tables), and clearly not accepted by you. We deducted the dishes you told my manager you did not order with your table immediately off the account, the ones you marked that you did not order , however according to my manager those were ordered by the other table. It seems now you ended up paying for the one table account only.

As far as for the wine out of stock issue is concerned, when it is this busy it sometimes happens that we run out of stock, however I am sure we had enough other wines to choose from.

I appreciate that we cannot get it right all of the time but would hope that when we make a mistake, we really try to rectify it during your lunch with us, to ensure that you leave us feeling happy and satisfied, which clearly from your review we did not succeed in doing so.

Please do contact us directly at therestaurant@bramonwines.com so that we can take the necessary steps to make you feel better regarding your experience at Bramon Wines.

Regards,

The Bramon Team

I have gone from being a major fan of the restaurant to just being disappointed. Unfortunately the whole attitude and vibe has just changed from a delightful wineyard dining experience to a take your food, be grateful you got it, pay overpriced rates and get out.

What used to have a lovely atmosphere, warm hospitality and the best freshly baked bread has now become Pletenbergs newest fastfood winery.

Management seems more concerned with making money and table turnover than customer satisfaction. Also 3 of the 5 wines offered at the wine estate restaurant were out of stock, and thier signature warm freshly baked delicious bread is now served cold (disappointing).

Meals are restricted to 2 hours and then you are asked to leave even if you have made a booking. A fact you are told about numerous times at the restaurant really making you feel welcome.

Please fix... you used to be a lovely place..

Dear Graham,

We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience and appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. Bramon Wine Estate takes reviews very seriously as it is our priority to ensure all our guests receive an outstanding experience while in a hospitable and beautiful environment. The 2 hours slots always have been part of our offerings however we are now using the dine-plan system and we wil definitely review the timing of these slots as we really want all our guest to have a pleasant experience. We have had such an increase of guests this year that service after the increase could have been slower for which we apologise strongly , which then resulted in off-timing. We appreciate your helpful and constructive criticism, which will help our service become better in the future.

We also realize it does not make your experience any better, but hope for your understanding, again our apologies.

Regards
