Our family stayed in the Rose Cottage at Fiddlewood Fields during the National Arts Festival. The cottage was well-appointed with tasteful decor, a spacious full bathroom and kitchen with crockery, cutlery, a microwave, kettle, fridge and toaster. Cereal, tea, coffee and rusks were provided. The beds were very comfortable, and the heated room was warm enough in mid winter, although some of the windows were difficult to close properly. There was always an ample supply of hot water. A leaking tap was attended to by management. There was off-street parking and the garden had an appealing English Country atmosphere. Close proximity to DSG and St Andrews schools, where many Festival shows were held, was ideal. Highly recommended.

We only had one night in Grahamstown and we're happy that a local recommended we stay here. It is very central. The room was very well appointed with a clever upstairs loft for the teenagers. Delicious home made rusks and a bar fridge in the room. Our hostess was very gracious and happily provided the Wifi password for our kids to use. Great bath, bed and overall very comfortable.

Room Tip: All the rooms have a nice garden view.

The rooms are five start standard with great bed linen and have luxurious toiletaries. The garden is an oasis of tranquility and the staff ever helpful. The home made biscuits in the room are a real treat to be enjoyed with coffee in front of the in-room fireplace on a cold evening.

Fiddlewood Fields is one of those gems you really want to keep to yourself! Set in a beautiful, mature garden with secure off-street parking, this guesthouse consists of a freestanding Victorian cottage next to the owner's house. We stayed in the Butterfly Room, which is most comfortable and beautifully decorated. Features include a kingsize bed, flatscreen TV, en-suite luxury bathroom (complete with chandelier, enormous bath and shower), a fully fitted kitchenette, small lounge area, small dining table, freestanding fireplace, as well as a mezzanine level with 3 extra single beds (perfect for parents who are bringing children back to boarding school or to Rhodes University). What is most special is the attention to detail, evident in the beautiful antique furniture, lovely curtains and blinds, the complimentary sherry and reading material, the free milk and cool drinks provided in the fridge, the chocolates left next to the bed at night, the tea/ coffee tray, the choice of cereals and biscotti for self-service breakfasts and all the little pampering goodies in the bathroom. My only gripe is that the hanging space in the only freestanding cupboard is a bit squashed and awkward. Highly recommended!

I was in Grahamstown to watch my son play in a hockey festival. The BNB was full so we were out up in a three bedroom flat bordering on the St Andrews grounds. The flat is very well furnished and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with milk and cereals which is a nice touch. Serviced daily, its very clean. The only negative is that its on the third floor and the lift is not functioning. I will stay there again.

Thank you for choosing to to make use of the Fiddlewood Fields extended accommodation service whilst you were in Grahamstown; it is disappointing to hear that the lift was not in service whilst you were in residence.

We look forward to having you at Fiddlewood Fields when you next visit.
