Where do I even begin?....Pumba is the experience of a lifetime, an unforgettable memory and something I will cherish forever.
We visited for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon and every moment we spent there was magical.
From the moment we arrived and Bianca showed us around and to our room, we knew it was going to be a very special part to our honeymoon.
We stayed at the Bush lodge- chalet C and I nearly cried when I walked into the room. The walls are 360 degree glass and so your views are incredible- yet so private! I’m told this is only the case at the Bush lodge though. Our outside decking was amazing with a view overlooking the Bush and animals grazing all day long. We were visited by just about everything!
The food was 5 Star- so much so that we then went on to a 5 Star resort in Mauritius where the food just didn’t compare. A beautiful menu was prepared daily, with local cuisine on offer and a great selection of wine to compliment.
The safari itself- amazing. Thomas was our driver, so knowledgeable, kind, funny and determined to give us a great experience. We booked a night drive with him and he tracked down a leopard to ensure we had an incredible evening. We saw so many nocturnal animals including the hippos grazing on the plains. I would recommend the night drive- however go with the mindset that you will see nothing as it’s not guaranteed. But at the very least you’ll be treated to a night sky that you have never seen before. I managed to tick off pretty much everything in my species book apart from the cheetahs (although other guests saw these), hyenas and the African cat. I was 3ft from a lions, a leopard, elephants and incredibly close within rhinos.
The staff are just wonderful and beautiful people. They couldn’t do enough to make our stay special. I couldn’t name them all but Bianca- so funny! So attentive and so on the ball, organising everything for us. Chanees- wow! She was training all the staff! Again so lovely, kind, attentive, ensured our glasses were never empty and our bellies always full. Mike- well Mike accompanied us to our room most nights and got up close and personal with the leopard on his 4th day in the job! You have to be escorted to your room after dark and this is because the leopard likes to pay the lodges a visit. It’s not dangerous and he’s not there to harm, but he was rescued and hand raised as a cub so likes a little human attention! Honestly- a memorable experience!
Thomas was our ranger but you get to meet them all and they are all just the smartest people you could meet. They become your best friends, you can ask them anything no matter how silly you think it, and every guest had nothing but praise for their guides.
I just want to come back and back and back and back!
Don’t hesitate to book this place- it’s worth every single penny.
If you want to see some of the amazing photos I took my instagram is @sachademi.
Once in a lifetime, forever in your mind.
