Could not be faulted in our view - we had a great time. The accommodation was exceptional, food was great and served promptly even when a large number of people were in the restaurant. Enjoyed the knowledge and professionalism of the rangers and the staff were friendly, professional and efficient. We did archery in the down time and I had a fantastic visit to the spa. Would love to go again.

Visited Pumba to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and what a great choice. We stayed at the Water Lodge and from the very first second the welcome and service was truly amazing. The lodge was warmed by log fires, the rooms were of a 5 star standard. We found the food to be first class and all the staff were so friendly. Special mention must be made about our Ranger Thomas (Tom Tom). His knowledge of the animals and instinct on the game drives helped ensure our visit was truly exceptional. We were Lucy to see 4 of the big 5 and were astonished to see how an elephant can be so easy to miss in the bush. The snacks and drinks mid-drive were a bonus and we shall miss our sun-down G and T with Thomas.
Make no mistake, this is a special place and we thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: Room 11 had a great view over the lake, but I'm sure all rooms share a similar vista at the Wate...

We spent three nights here at Msenge Lodge.
We were welcomed with forms pre-prepared, warms towels and a cold drink a good start.
The lodge itself is of a high standard and has outdoor areas, a small dining area, a tv room, a bar, an outside fire to sit around and an indoor area with fire. There aren't many guests and so you often only see people at meal times.
Rooms are also of a high standard with large shower / bath area, outdoor shower, plunge pool, sun deck and large bedroom with fantastic views - we had an elephant drinking outside the room and a lion outside at night (the roar was very loud).
Food is very good but I would stop short of saying outstanding. The choice is good but service relaxed (it can be slowish but hey who's rushing).
Game drives were brilliantly led by Tem. We saw four of the big five and many other species. How he spotted things as well as driving is beyond me. Seeing the animals in the open game reserve was unforgettable. I can't praise Tem highly enough.
We also did a walking safari with Justin. He was knowledgeable, friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the two hours learning lots along the way. You see lots of different things rather than being in the jeep.
The thing that sets Pumba apart for me is the little things. Let me give you a few examples. Hot water bottles are put in the bed and fire in the room lit when it was cold. Hot water bottles were also given out on the game drives. When the food is served at dinner they remember who has ordered what and it is placed in front of you. Every time you get back from the game drives there is a hot drink waiting and you are greeted by someone with hot towels. When we got back from the walking safari we were also met with cold drinks. It's these little things that set Pumba apart and give it such a high rating.
I've never been on safari before so can't compare to anywhere else. However, I would definitely go back if I ever got the chance.
A previous review mentioned a problem with monkeys at meal times. We did see a monkey on the terrace but before we knew it the staff had placed a person on the terrace and we didn't see it it again. So take it from me there is no problem with monkeys.
Pumba is friendly, high quality and most importantly full of interesting things to see. I would recommend it highly to all who get the chance to visit.
