3 AUG - 5 AUG 2018

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 05 Aug 2018
We flew in from CT on Friday the 3rd. Arrived to a very quiet hotel.
1. No offers to help with luggage.
2. We were told that if we wanted to park in the underground parking, we had to pay extra. Why? Surely if you are a guest and paid to stay there, why are you made to pay more for parking!
3. No remote given for gate, neither was there any security, told he will only come at 18h00! So we hooted, repeatedly till someone opened.
4. Very poor signage as to how to open the inter leading door from Garage.
5. The room/apartment was fine. Clean & neat. We stayed in #50
6. The safe was already locked, so we couldn't store anything inside, the lid of the kettle was broken. If you as a hotel have allocated rooms to guests arriving, why did no one go through and check?
7. The the damn noise!!! Whole night of the Friday until 04h00 the morning. My son woke up at 03h00 moaning abut the noise. Ghastly music, or rather lets not call that music! The Saturday night it went on till 06h00 Sunday morning, when our alarm went off to prepare for the trip home. It was AWFUL, no sleep at all! and forget about catching an afternoon nap.... it basically started the afternoon! We didn't bother to ask for new rooms as we already unpacked and shopped for groceries (have a 6yo).
8. The Saturday we went for breakfast and were told we had to pay R145 per person. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly for???
9. There was no more bacon and my husband asked one of the ladies for some.. when she was cooking more, she was basically crapped out by one of the senior staff and asked why she is making more! Really? We are paying a lot of money for a poor breakfast spread and then they want to have an issue with making more bacon available?
10. Lastly again... the issue of having to hoot repeatedly especially at night and wait 10/15 mins for someone to open the gates is just wrong. If the guests are paying for parking, irrespective of the price... at least give them a remote so they can come and go with ease.
Date of stay: August 2018
Room Tip: Do Not get the rooms anywhere near the Currie road side!

Good Afternoon

Firstly, thank you for your review, I do appreciate your feedback.
Unfortunately I have been on leave, but there was a relief Manager on duty whilst I was away, however I can assure you that I will address these matters immediately.

With regards to the luggage assistance, unfortunately we do not have a porter facility.

Please note that it is Hotel policy to charge R30 per vehicle per day to park in the underground parking. We charge a further R150 refundable deposit for a remote to the electric gate should a guest wish to hire a remote.
We are in the process of changing this system to a keycard system which will alleviate this problem in the future.

Security is on duty between 6pm and 6am.

The interleading door from the garage into the Hotel is opened by way of your access card which you swipe to open the door the same way in which you open your room door. I will look into the signage and investigate if any changes need to be made.

We are very proud of the Buffett Breakfast and the selection which we have to offer at the Windsor Cabanas, so please be assured that I will address this issue with the Chef and the Manager that was on duty on Saturday.

I am very happy to see that you did enjoy your apartment and the facilities which we have to offer.
The kettle in the apartment has been replaced.

Please keep in mind that it is always best to call on the Reception or Manager on Duty and address the issues immediately with them so that they can be rectified whilst you are staying with us, rather than after your departure

I apologise for any inconvenience caused during your stay.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the Windsor Cabanas again in the future.

I had a great stay at Windsor and all too happy with changes made since my last stay in March 2016. The only negative I could notice were the bed bases that were not covered. But overall I was quite happy

Room tip: Cabanas are more appropriate as they give that home away from home feeling

Good Afternoon Mrs Meyer

Thank you for the review.......it is extremely helpful for us, in order for us to improve our service to you and keep you, our valued guest happy whilst you are staying with us.

Checking on your profile I noticed that you were initially booked into Unit 37 which is a one bedroom self catering unit for yourself and your son. This unit has a double bed.

I recall that as you were booked in with your son, I moved you to a 2 bedroom, sea-facing unit at no extra cost. The 2 bedroom unit has 2 bathrooms with a shower which you did not have in the 1 bedroom unit.

Next time that you are staying with us, please do let the Reception or myself know if there are any shortages in your room while you are still here, so that we can rectify it immediately.

I have done an inspection in the unit and there are glasses in the kitchen cupboard, but there are no Champagne glasses, which as I recall you requested. As a standard we do not supply champagne glasses in the units but we did send some up to your unit from the Restaurant upon your request.

We do only put 1 pan in the rooms but we would most certainly have assisted you and provided you with another one if you had let us know while you were here.

Regarding the Pot Lid, yes I see that there is one short, I do apologise for that, they are glass lids so I can only imagine that perhaps it was broken and unnoticed by the Housekeeper. All fridges come standard with an ice tray. I will definitely follow up on these missing items, so thank you for bringing that to my attention.

Yes the weather over the Iron Man weekend was very warm wasn't it.....now we normally all love the hot weather at the coast, but I guess it was not ideal for the entrants with the competition on.....I must say I did feel sorry for all the entrants running in that heat :-)

Once again, when you are next staying with us, if you do happen to find anything short or have any special requests, please pop into Reception or feel free to give me a call so that we can assist you whilst you are still in house.

Thank you again for choosing the Windsor Cabanas as your destination, we look forward to welcoming you back again.

Yours in hospitality

This was an awesome self catering apartment facing the beach. Very clean and modern. The are lovely bird nests in the garden that gives melodies during the day but they go quiet at night to award you a peaceful sleep

Well, what can I say...I arrived here for half ironman. The price was average and it was right outside the start of the race and didn't look too shabby. I gave myself a high five, which should of been to the face.

On first contact the staff were'nt really much help at all, everytime I asked a question it seemed a mission to stop typing on their phone and answer me. My room was a disaster. It's a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with absolutely no airflow let alone air con to keep cool in the humid wather. To cool down I had to sleep with wet towels on my body.

Coming up for a race I expected a small bar fridge I could keep my nutrition cool in and fresh. Unfortunately they did not have in the rooms or apparently anywhere in the hotel. Even though they have a "restaurant". Every question asked was a chore to them.

The room smelt likean old-age home and didn't come accross as clean at all. I wasn't allowed to park my car inside the building so I had to park it outside. The first night my rental was broken into and my battery stolen. I was informed they have security that patrol in the evening, but they obviously had better things to do than watch the guests cars.

The next day after I received my new rental car, I left to go to the shops. Not even 500m up the road I witnessed police chasing a taxi and a full on shootout happened right in front of me.

This is definitely not the safest place to stay in South Africa. That evening I was obviously paranoid about my car being hit again. With such limited parking right in front of the hotel I wanted to park inside. After much begging and pleading they finally allowed me to park inside.

I spoke to a few other guests in the hotel and I heard stories of either them or a friend who's car was also broken into in the same area with belongings stolen.

They offered a full buffet breakfast the morning of the race for R85. It was going to be from 4am sharp. at 4:45am after being chased away 3 times they finally opened. The breakfast was sub-standard.

Stay away from this place if you have any self-respect and would like to live to see another day.

Room tip: Rather sleep in your car
