“The place to hide out in Bisbee”

The Doublejack was among a number of appealing possibilities for 4 days in Bisbee, but when we return I won't look elsewhere.

Doublejack is an old miner's shack in the hills above downtown Bisbee that's been beautifully updated and decorated. The owners have a great sense of style and they know how to make their guests comfortable, with great bedding, fresh-roasted coffee and wifi.

The "shack" has a large deck for enjoying that coffee or a glass of wine, but when it rained we were just as content to hang out in bed and watch the birds fuss just outside the windows.

Great touches, like the tractor seat collection lining the living room wall, the impossibly rich paint on the bedroom floor and the carefully chosen furnishings make this place truly special.

Casual and unpretentious, Doublejack felt like the kind of place Sunset Magazine would gush over. We only saw our hosts a couple of times, but they were very gracious and happy to make food and activity recommendations.

Pack lightly! You'll be hauling your luggage up a lot of stairs, but that's Bisbee. Consider leaving the car parked and walking down and back to Bella Roma Pizza for dinner.

One more thing: You know how sometimes a property uses photos that aren't truly representative of the place? Not so here. What you see at the website is what you get.
