What a fantastic place, excellent snorkeling at the coral gardens. And very good snorkeling near the over the water bungalows. The views were incredible. Loved the free boat transport to other Sofitel, from there easy walk to grocery market. I would recommend this place if you like good snorkeling.

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending 11 nights in French Polynesia. Final 3 nights were in a fantastic bungalow #109. Each morning the sunrise happens right got in from of us over the beautiful lagoon. The room was large enough and had all the amenities we needed. I the resort is quiet and very laid back. No kid policy was awesome. As all places down there the foos was very good, but expensive. The service team met Solent time with were awesome - Jim on Marketing, Sasha in F&B and our hostess who greeted us was delightful.

The lagoon,s famous coral garden was a short kayak of swim from our resort. Offering daily bread to feed the islands fish was something we did do and did every day. Really got a kick out of the little black tip sharks who swim around the dock. The evening sunsets from the viewing areas were breathtaking as well.

I highly recommend this resort. We would revisit if we had the chance.

My husband and I stayed in one of the overwater bungalows for our honeymoon for 5 days. This property is beautiful but that is one of the only things going for it, unfortunately.

After mentioning on numerous occasions that we were honeymooning, not one of the staff or management on the island congratulated us. Huge difference in coming from Hilton Moorea, where within 5 minutes of us checking into our room, concierge had sent a bottle of bubbles and a personalised note wishing us well on our marriage. It really does make a difference and looking back I really do wish we had booked our onward Bora Bora section of our trip at the Conrad.

The debacle continues when, after being told at check in that happy hour at the bar was from 4:30 - 6:30, upon arrival at the bar at 5:30 we enquired as to what happy hour included, not one of the staff knew what was going on. After about 15 minutes, one of the staff who appeared to be drunk told us that happy hour was only from 5 to 5:30 and that they were sorry? My husband showed them the sign that specifically said happy hour was from 4:30 - 6:30 but no solution was offered. The staff were obviously just too lazy and didn’t want to make a few cocktails which is completely unacceptable given it is an island location and this sort of service should be a staple.

The breakfast could be improved to include cream to have with the pancakes.

The bungalows are old and tired however the coral garden is amazing and the hotel has some of the best snorkelling on the island. All transfers were on time and arranged properly and the hotel did allocate our requested bungalow to us. The property is very private and small so it would be good if you were after a more rustic, authentic experience but from all accounts I believe another resort would have been a better fit for us. We won’t be coming back.

We requested a later check out of 1 hour, which we were told the hotel couldn’t do. All in all, not a great experience service wise and we did not feel as if this trip was made to feel special for us, and given it was our honeymoon, is really not acceptable. The hotel is certainly not up to standard of the rest of the resorts and it’s not as if it isn’t expensive either.

I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews.

We stay at Sofitel around the world a lot and are Accor Gold members so know what to expect from a Sofitel property. This property unfortunately is not up to standard but they happily charge the same rate as those that are! Some gripes are:

No showers in over the water bungalow - it’s a hand held piece in the bath - who wants a bath in 30 degree heat?

No cushions on deck chairs anywhere - the loungers are made from wooden cane so you can’t sit on them for long, not ideal for a week doing nothing in the sun. We thought we would go to the sister resort and spend the day there but exactly the same - lots of unhappy people with sore backsides! We are now going to better resorts during the day to relax in comfort but at quite a cost as you pay around $200 USD per person for a day pass. How hard would it be to get some cushions???

The rooms are tired and in desperate need of a revamp or even just a good clean! I’m not convinced the duvet covers get changed very often - Sofitel Moorea is a much better option if you want to holiday in Tahiti.

The staff are very friendly but have limited knowledge on things like wine on their wine list, you have to ring each day to get the basics restocked like cups, tea bags etc - the breakfast buffet is pretty basic but covers what you need. The dinner menu is lovely and the food good but there’s only one restaurant so you need to explore other resorts or restaurants so your not eating the same limited menu each night.

We are here another 5 days and will return to Bora Bora but for the money would stay at one of the other top 5 resorts - much better value for money and much more comfortable.

Cannot fault the staff really - training is the issue and that’s a Management problem (haven’t seen any Management).

Step up your game Sofitel, Bora Bora offers way more for the same money at other resorts.
