“Fantastic place to stay!”

My husband and I wanted a special place to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary and we decided on Bora Bora and better yet...we picked Villa Vahimanui. Villa Vahimanui by far lives up to the picturesque scenery you would see on a screen saver. This was our third trip to a tropical paradise and I would contend that it rivals an all-inclusive resort. The condo was very clean, well-maintained, with WiFi and comfortable furnishings. The listing is very accurate about what you will find. The view from the balcony was unparalleled (soft sea breezes, palm trees and a beautiful lagoon in front of you). Pierre is an absolute wonderful host. He went to great lengths to make sure our stay was perfect, and it was. Prior to our departure, Pierre sent us a map, a PDF of a full listing of tips about day trips, groceries, boat tours, etc. It gives you all sorts of information about Bora Bora, restaurants, local attractions and excursions. Pierre was timely with communicating with us before and after our trip. Nathalie, who looks after Pierre's condo, is a JEWEL. She is on site daily, always had a smile on her face, answered all our questions and gave us suggestions on places to go and things to do. Nathalie made us feel extremely welcome. The condo is located about 6 miles from Vaitape, which has lots of restaurants, 2 grocery stores and is where you can catch a ferry to other islands. We did 2 excursions while there, one day sail and one day trip to Raiatea. I would highly recommend both. I cannot say enough great things about our stay at Pierre's condo and Bora Bora. We will definitely be going back soon. Thanks again Pierre!

My husband and I recently spent a week in Bora Bora and have a difficult time finding the right words to describe our stay. We arrived on the island early in the day and Nathalie, the property manager, was gracious enough to allow us to drop our luggage off earlier than check-in time while we explored the island. Villa Vahimanui is absolutely fantastic!! From the beautiful view, the wonderful furnishings and amenities, its convenient location, everything about this home is the best! We loved the lanai and the stunning view. We enjoyed snorkeling right in front of the house as well. We traveled throughout the island and found the location to work very well for us. The villa is just a few miles from Vaitape where you have a couple of great restaurants: Saint James, Mai Kai and Lucky House. The owner was very prompt in responding to questions and was very helpful with suggestions regarding our visit. Excellent service in every way. We would highly recommend this vacation home and hope to return there in the near future ourselves. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Thank you so much Pierre for making our stay in Bora Bora so memorable! Pierre was a pleasure to work with and communication was flawless during the process. I still can't get over how awesome everything turned out. The condo was great! We loved the spaciousness and the efforts to provide all the comforts of home : open concept living - so airy and calming, huge patio, well-equipped kitchen, nice and comfortable furniture, tv, internet, etc. I honestly felt that we had everything we needed. The area was very quiet and perfect to relax. We spent many afternoons having lunch and drinks out on the patio. The views were incredible! Of course, we spent hours on Matira beach and on « motu Topua ». A treat ! Lots of shallows and plenty of places to snorkel. ! For anyone who enjoys snorkeling - you have access to a series of reefs teaming with gorgeous colorful fish just a quick swim directly out from the beach! We wouldn't have been able to enjoy the island as much if we hadn't rented a car (Pierre’s car is perfect). The property managers who met us were outstanding : they are extremely helpful and made arrangements for us to enjoy excursions like a private sailboat and snorkeling experience that we saw mentioned in a very helpful "Bora Bora Activities" manual provided by Pierre. They even fetched us fresh coconuts from the trees on the property! This home was a little piece of paradise and we enjoyed our stay there immensely. Gorgeous, safe, fun, comfortable and relaxing: the perfect vacation!

“Gorgeous lagoon views. Nice vacation home base.”

The setting: You will be greeted at the ferry dock, in Vaitape, by Nathalie or Barthelemy, the couple who maintain this villa complex, and driven to the villa. The villas are in Faanui, a twenty minute drive from Vaitape, the main town on Bora Bora. My villa was #17, it is set high into the hillside. You have to drive up a steep curving driveway; it’s not difficult but looks daunting. You then hike three sets of steep stairs to get to the villa. This effort is worth it because the view of the lagoon from the villa is incredible.
The interior: There is a large living space facing the lagoon. There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom with a queen size bed, which is the only space with air conditioning, had two sets of narrow windows. The second bedroom with two single beds had a large, screened, sliding door. There is a large bathroom and a decent size kitchen with all the necessary appliances and utensils. All the windows and sliding doors have screens, so insects won’t be a problem during your stay. During the day the heat is intense, but at night, the breeze that sweeps through the villa is wonderful. However, had I not sleot in the air conditioned bedroom, I would have been too hot in the secondary bedroom. The lack of air conditioning in the secondary bedroom was not made explicit to me, so beware. There are televisions in the villa with basic cable, which means nine French only channels. There is wifi, but it is very slow, think dial up speed. The furnishings are clean and comfortable, with the exception of the living room couch which was actually a sectional which came in three pieces. It kept sliding apart as I relaxed on it. This is a very poorly designed piece of furniture. The patio with spacious seating and a large table is wonderful, but the mosquitoes meant that it could not be enjoyed during my stay. The water pressure in the shower was adequate but there is a lack of hot water. If you are showering after the beach, and your skin is warm from the sun, the significant difference in temperature between your skin and the water out of the shower meant that each time my body was shocked by the coldness of then water. The kitchen faucet does have hot water. This leaves one to wonder why the shower doesn’t. This is not explicit in the villa description, so beware.
Beach access: Matira, the wonderful public beach on Bora Bora is easily accessible, within 20 minutes, with your compact car, which is part and parcel of the rental. Unfortunately, there are no beach chairs or umbrellas available for rent on Matira Beach and the villa owner doesn’t provide any for borrowing. This means being burned by the sun as there is little shade to be had on Matira. Your other option is a ten minute drive from the villa, the Pearl Beach Resort. The parking lot for the free ferry to this resort is just of the main road, and as long as you have a meal or two, you can enjoy the resort’s amenities gratis. This is a nice option, as it comes with chaise lounges and parasols.
The hosts: The owner, Mr. Lagrange is based in France. He promptly responded to all emails and provided thorough explanations and instructions in English. The caretakers, Nathalie and Barthelemy are true gems. This couple relocated to Bora Bora from northern France as Barthelemy is originally from Bora. Nathalie speaks English well and Barth, although very amiable, doesn’t speak much English. This couple warmly greeted me. While Nathalie prepared the villa, Barthelemy gave me a tour of the island. They allowed me to use their private access to a spot on Matira Beach. They also set up a wonderful dinner and procured great seats for Polynesian dance show at the tail end of the month long Haiva. Without this couple, my stay would not have been as nice as it was.

Dear Edward, thank you for your nice review. Some information about your comments. In the second bedroom, you have 2 fans, one is a ceiling fan with high speed motor. It works very well. We provide 2 LED HD TV with lots of DVDs, most of them are in English. The Wifi works very well too (high speed connection) idon't understand why it was not the case for you. We do have hot water in the bathroom (shower). Best regards.

“Beautiful Home”
Reviewed 8 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed at VILLA VAHIMANUI for three nights at the end of June 2015. The home is absolutely beautiful, as is the view. There is air conditioning in both bedrooms and fans in the living area. It is well appointed and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need, should you decided to cook for yourselves.

We did rent Pierre's car, which is essential if you are renting this property. The rate is very reasonable, and the car is in very good condition. The driveway is very steep, so if you choose not to rent the car, you will need to either climb the stairs, or walk the driveway (which I would not suggest.) We were able to have pick up for some restaurants and activities, but again, you will have to meet the ride at the bottom of the hill.

Nathalie and Barthelemy, the caretakers of the property, were wonderful. They picked us up from our previous hotel and adjusted their schedule to ours on the last day so we were able to check out early. They are a wealth of information and very kind. Pierre, the owner, was also wonderful. He was very thorough and gave us all kinds of information on the island's activities. Booking the property was very easy and Pierre was in contact with us often regarding the trip.

We have been to Bora Bora several times now, and we enjoyed having the opportunity to have our own car and condo on the mainland. I wish that we had been able to stay more than three nights so that we could have enjoyed the condo more. I would have loved to sit out on the deck in the morning with coffee or at night with a glass of wine to enjoy the sunset. Unfortunately, we were always running from place to place and were unable to do so. We love the convenience of the resorts and their restaurants, but having our own schedule and ability to go around the island on our own was a much better option for us. This will definitely be the direction we will go in the future.

A word of advice, the internet needed to be reset every morning for some reason. Nathalie was going to look into this after we left, but I think part of this was the amount of devices we had. With two teenagers and my husband and I, we had too many devices. Sending texts and emails could only be done over wifi due to cost, so all phones, computers, and iPads were connected. When we turned the wifi off on a few of them, it worked much faster. That being said, EVERYTHING is on island time in Bora Bora. So do not plan to work, and enjoy your vacation. Also, make sure you pick up paper products on the way to the condo if possible. The main store is 10-15 minutes by car, so it is best to be prepared in that regard in case the previous tenants do not leave enough paper towels or toilet paper.

We really enjoyed our visit to VILLA VAHIMANUI, and would definitely stay at this location again when we return!
