What is Dalyan’s spell?

Why do so many British visitors come back year after year to Keysan Yunus hotel, and to Dalyan?

It could be the weather, which, when we come in September, is perfect; or the setting, alongside a gentle river flowing down from the lake to the harbour; or the long expanse of unspoiled beach, the protected home of loggerhead turtles.

Dalyan is an unassuming little town, safe to walk in, with cheerful locals happy to welcome visitors. There is nothing to spoil the day. Plenty of cafes, boats and buses to take visitors to the beach, to the mountains to see the sunset, to nearby towns like Gocek and Fethiye, and to swim off boats around the twelve islands and in the lake. Taxis are inexpensive. There’s a market once a week.

Much has been written by others about the simple delights of the Keysan Yunus hotel. After coming here 4 years running we decided on a change last year - and we really did miss coming here, so we’re back this year for three weeks. Many guests come in June and then again in September. The life is undemanding, unhurried, and unpretentious, ideal for anyone who needs a restful break. For more active visitors, there are bikes to hire and Land Rover safaris to go on.

The hosts Kamerun and his wife Julia are generous and caring. Breakfasts alongside the river, with little fish and ducks competing to share the delightful food with you, are memorable. The rooms are basic but very clean with new towels every day, air conditioning, and a tea and coffee tray. The swimming pool is kept spotless.

This hotel gives us everything we look for when we need a break.

This is an incredibly welcoming hotel with subtle unassuming friendly family running it. You feel as if you are at your friends' house but without the discomforting elements. The hotel rooms are clean and spacious and the bathroom is huge - in contrast to most hotel rooms - The garden is lovely and big you can have your lovingly prepared and decorated breakfast direcly at the tables at the river. The relaxed but caring host and his lively empathetic wife will mmediately become your friends. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a quite and calm environment - this is the place. You will enjoy the pool and the hammocks in the garden and the oriental pavillion. Within 15 minutes you will reach city center. The walk is really pleasurable as it is right along the river. Taxi will cost you only 12TL. We will definitely come back.

pros: silent. nice view. stuff is excellent. they are also owners. you can borrow a cano and ride along the river.
not a luxury hotel but clean facility. have a swimming pool.

cons: rooms are old. not close to a seaside. (actually there is no facility near seaside in this region because of reproduction area of turtles)

This place is definitely beyond my expectations! Beautiful venue, nice and well maintained facilities, large rooms with all the essential amenities and a beautiful family who make you feel at home (in fact in Paradise).

Second time to the Keysan and the sixth time to Dalyan. As usual the hotel is excellent everyone who works there is helpful and friendly and an excellent breakfast every morning. 10-15 minute walk into town and the temperature was in the mid to late twentys. Love to return next year!!!
