Before arriving, I was a little worried about the vibe here - their Instagram features a ridiculous amount of ‘influencers’ holding their best yoga poses by the pool. Kalapa was not like this at all!
We were met at the airport by the driver who was very entertaining and easy going which made the journey to the resort during peak hour, way easier to deal with!
Upon arrival, we were checked in seamlessly and escorted through the resort to our bungalow. Winding through the lush green gardens, we knew we had hit a jackpot. It is a very authentic and boutique resort, making it a quiet and relaxing setting for our stay. The pool areas are divine and our bungalow was nicely styled. The daily yoga classes held by Ayu, a Balinese yogi, were absolutely perfect and since we stayed during a not so busy season, I was lucky enough to have a private class with her when nobody else showed up! The restaurant is great and every morning we were greeted with warm smiles. Nearby is a Hindu temple and their beautiful Sanskrit chants can be heard at 6am. The spa is fantastic and highly recommended. We went out surfing and hired a scooter for the week and the commute from the resort to the beach isn’t too bad if you’re confident! There was a beautiful black puppy that hung out with us for our entire stay - the staff had named her Malika. Though I don’t believe she belonged to anyone, the dog was certainly adored by everyone who was also staying at the resort. We all hoped that perhaps the resort would adopt her so that she would greet us again when we return! All in all, we loved our stay at Kalapa and will definitely be back!

We have stayed at Kalapa for 2 nights.
We had the private pool villa, which has an outdoor pool and shower!

Must say that the crew is very professional, we had a lot of questions and they made sure we will know everything every time (even at night)!
Everything was very clean,
Bed was comfortable, AC was awesome.
Pool was super clean.
There’s a great Restaurant inside the hotel that cooks wonderful dishes.
The Shower has great hot water, Room was big, and we had place to put the luggages.

The Hotel is really well designed, like in the jungle!

We will come again for sure,
Shachar and Adi.

Absolutely beautiful authentic and luxury Bali resort. Canggu is very westernised so we enjoyed staying in this high quality beautifully designed Indonesian resort. We were amazed by the value for money compared to other hotels during our Indonesian holiday!

We stayed in the Moksa 1 - room with private pool. It really made our stay, very private, gorgeous interior design and outdoor bathroom. We attended yoga every morning, the teacher was very good - I practice yoga and my boyfriend is learning. The Indonesian breakfast is delicious. Scooter hire is priced fairly direct from the hotel so in 10 mins you can get to echo beach and Canggu. The staff are incredibly helpful, the receptionist text me advice when our bags were lost by the airline. I would recommend this hotel in a heart beat! The only complaint - WiFi is intermittent but we weren’t bothered when on holiday.

It looked promising, a collection of villas set around extensive gardens and two pools. Our villa Samsara was huge. An old villa with secret wall that revealed an outdoor bathroom. It also had a hot tub / bath. Dinner in the restaurant was good as were the breakfasts.

It went a bit downhill from there: the second night our villa had no water, not even for the loo. Much back and forth with reception and they eventually let us use another villa to go to the loo and have showers (after telling us initially that every room was full). They couldn't fix it, there was no one they could call and couldn't care less. As you can imagine it put a dampener on the stay and when we woke up the next day and we still didn't have water we were ready to move hotels.

It came on for our last day. There was no compensation or consideration. The other thing that was that they decided to treat all the pools mid day while we and other guests were using them. We were asked to get out and then had to stay out of them for 4 hours, not that you would want to go in. There was also no signage so new guest who turned up pool side didn't know what was going on.

Room tip: One that has running water

Cannot speak/write highly enough about Kapala Resort. Great location.. you would not know you are in the middle of the frantic, extremely busy Canggu, particularly the roads! A quiet oasis in the middle of mayhem! The rooms are traditional Javanese/Balinese and are cleaned every day to a very high standard.
The food is deliciously traditional... but if you want there is western food, but why would you?! The staff are very helpful and gracious. The grounds and pools (there's two) are clean and well maintained.
Kapala adalah raja!
