Our family of four (myself, my wife, and two daughters age 18 and 20) booked this tour through the Disney Cruise line website.

Our tour guide Mike was amazing. His knowledge of glaciers and the area is unparalleled. Mike has worked as a university Geography professor in Juneau with a specialty in Glaciers, so you can imagine just how knowledgeable he is.

Our tour started off with Mike pointing out about 20 bald eagles roosting on the side of the road in a park. Wow! We continued on to a nature reserve area where we took a sample of water and recorded all the living creatures in the water sample. This was very interesting.

We then walked through a nature reserve where Bears have been known to hang out as was evidenced by what we found along the trail. Unfortunate we didn’t see any bears on our walk. Maybe the others kids in our group scared them off, this was one thing we didn’t enjoy about this tour. Our tour included two other families and the other two families had very busy boys age 8-14 that were everywhere and made some of the tour pretty busy.

After our walk we visited Mendall Glacier which was super interesting and beautiful. Mike’s knowledge of Glaciers also made this part of the trip.

We then boarded the custom made whale watching boat to go find some whales. Our captain (Dan I believe his name was) was excellent, and extremely safe. The boat this company has for whale watching is super innovative and safe! All the windows can open up when you get to the whales and getting to the whales the windows stay closed so you can basically fly on the water. 3-250hp Yamaha outboard motors power their boats so you can imagine how fast they go.

First thing we did before our whale watching tour was to check a lobster trap to see what is crawling on the bottom of the ocean and see if there are any invasive species. Once this was done and recorded we headed out whale watching.

On our trip we saw both humpback whales and orcas. We actually saw a pod of about 15 orcas. We also were able to identify the two jump back whales we saw as whales that have been previously identified in the area, so that was very cool.

On the way back we quickly took a look at some sea lions sitting on a buoy and then headed back as we were out of time.

Definitely recommend this tour!

We did this excursion on 21st June 2018 booked as an excursion on the Celebrity Infinity cruise ship. What an incredible experience. Scott our guide was very engaging and very knoweldgeable and shared lots of interesting information about the rainforest and the Medenhall glacier which is beautiful. He shared lots of information about the flora and fauna and the eco system of the forest. We saw a Beavers Lodge and then we literally came face to face with a black bear which was standing within 10 feet of us. It was amazing. We then went whale watching. Scott and the boat captain Bruck were very enthusiastic and proactive about seeing the whales and maximised our opportunity to see an active whale. As a result we saw two breaching whales and numerous fins, tails and spouts. It was fantastic. Scott also shared lots of information about life in Juneau and Alaska in general. We also saw many bald eagles. The trip was worth every penny and more. I would highly recommend this excursion and Gastineau when in Juneau.

My daughter and I got off the Disney Cruise and went on the Mendenhall Glacier Hike. It was so amazing. Our guide, Kait, was wonderful. So many beautiful places along the trail. You do not get to go on the glacier it is not that close. But you can see it from the hiking trails. We had a great time and our guide Kait was so kind and explained all what we were seeing and what not to touch. She had time at the end and we were able to go on a walk near the nature center and saw a bear eating in the tree.

There were whales popping up all over the place. We even saw one blast out face first! The gal who did the talking was CHELSEA and I cannot tell you enough how fun she made the trip! Captain Logan was amazing as he was able to spot whales. What a great experience. And also awesome... was seeing from the boat... TWO GLACIERS flowing into the water! I was watching for whales and put my camera down so did not get any photos of the whales who flipped their tails.

My sister's and I went to visit my niece who is working in Juneau this summer. We scheduled a seaplane flight, and whale tour. Emma was an outstanding whale guide. Extremely knowledgeable with an Environmental studies background and an incredible passion for whales. She was so fun to have as a guide! This tour company is well organized, has friendly knowledgeable staff, and can't be beat!
