It was lovely to stay at the Blue Heron. Close to town, walking distance, great view from the living room!
A few aspects, if The Blue Heron owner is aware that the house gets rented to families with small children then perhaps it is best to not have items in the house that are of great value (ex.coffee table scratches easily). As all families should be respectful and hopfeully are of other people's properties it can be hard to manage little people and tell them they cannot touch this or that.
We left notes for lights to be put into the rangehood (again minor details) or the BBQ to be at a cleanliness level to cook on (not the case), again potentially minor stuff but I heard this was not 'fixed' for the next family that rented this house the following weekend.
Perhaps instructions on how to use the shower as well would be helpful !
Overall a decent experience and a warm, lovely, family home to have come home to after a hike with kids in the rain or fishing:)!
Great location -- you can walk to town -- but the area is quiet with fantastic views of the water. We found Blue Heron House to be very comfortable and relaxing. The home was clean, and everything we needed was available, including a washer and dryer. If you just want to open a book and read, there is a small room with a comfy chair where you can look up and glance at the ships and boats in the water as you read. So nice! The open kitchen is large enough so that several people can cook at once if that's what you want to do. Or, if you prefer to grill, there is one available outdoors. Dining al fresco is also available. There is a table and chairs on the large deck as well as in the home. Don't think we could have found better accommodations for us in Haines. Just love this place!
