A very nice organization for sustainable tourism. They use local guides for the tours. The advice is great and prices are very fair. Most tours do not include transport in the base price.
We did the bribri tour with waterfall. Our guide, Kesh, took us to his family chocolate farm and showed us how to make chocolate, different plants and their use and shared a lot about his culture and their way of life. It was less a tour and more like hanging out with a friend. At the end we went to a nice waterfall. It was a deep and fascinating experience.

ATEC are awesome. I went on the day trip to Yorkin to gain insight into traditional Bribri indigenous lifestyle, and was amazed at how truly interwoven with nature these peoples lives are. This trip is worth it even for the (motorized) canoe ride alone - which is up a river dividing Panama from Costa Rica. The riverbank is incredibly lush, unspoilt and teeming with wildlife (had I realized how many birds there were going to be I would have taken binoculars!). At the village we were shown roof thatching, chocolate making (critically involving tasting) and a spot of archery. There was also the opportunity to swim in the river and a delicious lunch was provided. The bribri tour guides were incredibly welcoming and upon request even showed us around one of the houses. I thoroughly recommend this trip. Also the driver was super helpful and kindly drove me to a different drop-off location that was far out of his way. Thank you ATEC!

We spent an amazing day with the community of the Bribri de Talamanca.
ATEC planned everything for us and we went by pirogue with Eliot in the village, almost one hour through the river, on each side primary jungle, such an incredible trip :). Then we discovered the beautifull Bribri village and women from the village explained us the cacao making process, roof making, etc. I hardly recommande this NGO and this tour. I think spend one night in the village is the best as well.

Omar was a wonderful guide. He really knows the birds and can spot them readily. Then he makes sure each person in the group sees it. He was also very knowledgeable about other wildlife and talked much about the history of the area. I heartily recommend his tours.

We spent one day and one night there and would have loved to stay longer ! It's an experience out of time, really. The people in the village are so nice, a special thumbs up for Bernarda and Meinor who guided us during the day. Thanks to both of them for the great time we have had and share their culture. It will remain a true genuine experience for us.
The only disappointment was at the beginning in the organization of the day : we came the evening before to the office of Atec to check everything was in order and everything was OK. But the day of the tour, we had the bad surprise to discover that we would not have any English speaking guide as booked... We have not even been warned by Atec about the issue ; we just discovered it arriving in the village... it was very uncomfortable, for both us and Bernarda. But thanks to her great reactivity and the help of Kech (a French speaking guide from the community), they managed to solve the issue for us the afternoon.
So at the end, the whole experience was a real success. It could have been a 6 star experience, really. But we were only disappointed by the lack of communication from atec to us about the problem. An sms explaining us the issue would have made a real difference, at least for us not to feel uncomfortable on arrival.
