“Worth every penny!!!”

Topo's tree house is a perfect location to appreciate the paradise that is Costa Rica. The house is artfully constructed around a living tree, which is home to some of the most charming fauna and flora in the world!

Topo went out of his way to make us feel at home and ensure we had everything we needed to achieve the most enjoyable experience possible. His relaxed attitude and obvious care fro the local environment was as impressive as it was endearing.

As the house is open to the environment, insects were an initial concern. Though it was quickly apparent that it was not an issue. The tree house stays relatively cool under the jungle canopy and was comfortable in every regard.

This location is perfect for a family vacation, or a romantic get away. If you are planning on staying in this part of Costa Rica, do yourself a favor and do not miss this accommodation!!

Thanks Topo!

“What an Experience!”

We stayed at Topo's Treehouse for 4 nights in August 2013 and we had a wonderful time. The treehouse is absolutely amazing - the wood is beautiful and there are exceptional details in the design of the treehouse everywhere. It's a great cross between the beautiful outdoors and the convenience of staying indoors. Topo was fantastic and he welcomed us and helped us with anything we needed while we were there. I would recommend staying at Topo's Treehouse to anyone who wants a once in a lifetime experience - a definite MUST!

“Incredible Place, Owner, and Overall Experience”
Reviewed 2 July 2013 for a stay in June 2013

To begin, writing a review for Topo’s Tree House is difficult quite simply because the incredible experiences that my girlfriend and me had while staying at the tree house for five days are nearly impossible to put into words. For anyone even remotely considering trekking to Cahuita and lodging at the tree house: DO IT. No matter how many photos you see, virtual tours you take, and gushing reviews you read, your stay at Topo’s Treehouse, and the proprietor Topo, will exceed even the highest expectations. The house is literally a part of the giant tree, and is alive, well, and the perfect place to call home while in Costa Rica.

Concerning the tree house itself, the place has an almost magical vibe that runs throughout the property. While this statement may sound cheesy, the isolation, cleanliness, various areas for sitting and talking, symphony of sounds, the well-working amenities, hammocks, vegetation, wildlife (we saw frogs and a sloth with her baby), and sturdy structure of the unique house all work together to harbor a space for relaxation, one to which we will always feel connected. Everything is fully furnished and equipped with plenty of towels, pillows, blankets, soap, cutlery, etc., and the house has everything needed for cooking; Topo, staying at the guest house out back just a stone’s throw away, is just a holler away if we did need anything or had questions. We even had a few cold beers in our fridge! The beach, bars, restaurants, and a breakfast places are within immediate walking distance (maybe four minutes walking to the beach with everything else in between).

While simply staying at the tree house made our trip an unforgettable experience, Topo’s courtesy, generosity, and helpfulness elevated our trip to a higher level. He showed us around town, gave us recommendations for the best prices on virtually everything to do (canopy tours, beaches, bars, grocery, horseback riding, surfing), had an occasional drink with us, and was never intrusive whatsoever. He truly cared about our stay and his relaxed and infectious demeanor quickly rubbed off on us. In fact, we had such a great time at the tree house and in Cahuita in general, we decided to extend our stay for a couple more days, and among our many journeys in Costa Rica, staying at the tree house is our favorite memory.

If this review comes off as overzealous, I’d respond by saying that it is almost impossible to articulate how special this place and Topo are.

(Just as a side note, if you are travelling to Cahuita via bus from San Jose, you should have no problem getting to town. If, however, you are renting a car and driving from San Jose, as with anywhere in Costa Rica, do your map homework. We did not, unfortunately, and drove in circles around San Jose, and got lost in Lima, making for a very prolonged journey.)

The tree house and Cahuita in general are rare places in Costa Rica where locals vastly outnumber tourists and that offer adventure, relaxation, and serenity. Whether two people or a large group, we both highly recommend staying here and making this tree house a part of your trip and, ultimately, your life as well.
