this was our first time visiting Costa Rica and tamarindo village hotel did not disappoint! Steve and his wife Martha were incredibly welcoming - both kind and genuine, eager to help provide guests with the best Costa Rican experience. best part by the far was the daily homemade breakfast served poolside! authentic Costa Rican food every morning, as well as fresh fruit, juices, and coffee (our favorite quickly became to carrot orange juice - must try). the beds were surprising VERY comfortable. rooms had all the necessities, although very basic. one unique aspect that I surprisingly enjoyed were the outdoor bathrooms/showers - very refreshing and serene environment helped to provide relaxation. town and the beach were just a short walk away - five minutes max. as a bonus, steve upgraded our room the last two nights to ocean view villa free of charge :) perfect for couples trying to have a romantic getaway!

My fiancée stayed 4 nights at Tamarindo Village. The #1 reason to stay here is the lovely owners. They are warm, welcoming, and we're always present to answer any questions. They were so hospitable, and continued to take care of us even after we had checked out and were sitting by the pool. Quick 8 minute walk to the Main Street in town. Felt safe at all hours.

Highlight was breakfast every morning by the pool, cooked by the family. Fresh, delicious, friendly, healthy, hearty!

We had the top casa (property is stepped on a small hill), and we had a fantastic view from our loft balcony, where I would sit and watch the sunset. Very comfy king size bed.

Great open air-feeling bathroom (exposed shower with overhead screens).

HOT TIP: ask Steve to make you a Bloody Mary!

Big thanks the Steve, Martha and their family for a truly memorable stay.

Wow. We weren't expecting to get our own jacuzzi pool! This is a great spot and they treat you like kings (and queens). All of the staff is really helpful. The free breakfast is world class, and so tasty! The old reviews of this place do not do it justice (make your decisions based on the past 8-12 months of reviews, as it is under new ownership, Steve and Martha). The new owners are attentive and helpful. They live on site and are in tune with the area and their hotel. This makes it well worth the money. They offer guided tours and free bikes and even golf cart transport to town, if you need it! The only thing some people have complained about is the locations it's on top of a hill, in the canopy, with ocean views! (Not a complaint of mine, but it is about 2 mins driving to the middle of town, 8-10 mins walking)... All in all, this is a four star hotel, going on five!

Thank you for your review - in fact, we're blown away by it, and by all of the great reviews by our guests.

Everyone: This reviewer was surprised, so we are telling you all -- We are the only hotel in Tamarindo to have the combination of Ocean Views, Private Jacuzzi Pools, Very Large +600 Square Foot Rooms (and that is NOT counting the exterior patios and jacuzzi decks), and the relaxing ambiance provided by our hillside location.

We were surprised that these guests did not know about the jacuzzi pool at their ocean view room, so we are highlighting our positives in hopes that everyone sees this and understands the VALUE we offer when you compare to the other hotels that offer "same old - same old" hotel rooms. Check us out and then come see us.

This is a great place. It is family friendly and very romantic for couples. All the villas are well taken care of. Steve and Martha are great. We went July/August of 2015 and here I am in December re-posting a comment. To: Steve much appreciation for bumping us up to the Ocean View villa, which really all of them are great you’ve done a great job with the place. To: Martha Gracias por tu trato amable y por hacer nuestro viaje tan agradable y memorable.
We will definitely be back!!!

The Con Family.

The villas are large and clean, and the breakfast was consistently great. Steve and Martha were amazing hosts, they provided us with anything we needed, and were very knowledgable about the town and tours. The only downside is the walk to/from town, as the hotel is on a hill. Nevertheless, if/when I'm back in Tamarindo I'll definitely be staying here.
