We were there during Easter Week so the town was a total ZOO!
However our stay was very nice. We enjoyed the fine restaurant, pool and a wonderful massage in the outdoor spa. The only negative is Playa Langosta which is not suitable for swimming. Our room was clean and efficient.

We really enjoyed Cala Luna! It had the right balance of laid back with friendly service and nice enough amenities. It’s owned by a couple of Belgian expats and has a good mix of North American and European guests of all ages. The European sensibilities show in a variety of ways.

The Pros: Location is secluded but easy to get to. Good value. Excellent buffet breakfast and good lunch and dinner options at resort. Not beachfront but a quick 2 min walk to ocean. Nice pool. Friendly concierge. Very small feel (not for someone who wants a large resort feel/amenities). Ocean is extremely warm (I loved!!). There are howler monkeys, raccoons, cats and dogs roaming freely on the property. Sunsets are gorgeous and there are complimentary delicious drinks served on the beach daily.

Things to know: there is no towel service at the pool or at the beach. (There are a couple tan towels in the room that I think you're supposed to use as beach/pool towels). There is no food or beverage service at the beach but there are chairs. The beach is rocky but if you’re willing to walk half a mile (and time it right so you don’t get stranded by the high tide) you can get to the beautiful tamarindo beach, north of the hotel beach. Rooms are smallish but bathrooms are big. The farm dinner (owned by the hotel owners) is lovely and worth the spend. There is no store at the hotel. Stop by the market on the way to the hotel and get water, sunscreen, balls and games (there are none at the hotel). If you plan to be active in the water, bring water shoes. Enjoy!

Greetings from Langosta Beach!

Thank you so much for taking some of your time to share your holiday experiences with us, in such a kind and detailed review.

We are extremely happy that our resort facilities and our great staff were up to the expectation. It is certainly will help us to have reviews such are yours, to improve on what we do throughout.

We have taken note of your point with regard to the service aspect of the beach/pool towels, indeed we offer towels in each room of the Hotel, also we advise all our guest to exchange their wet towels for new ones in our restaurant or front desk, apologies if you did not notice that. In concerns to our beach services we offers hammocks, chairs and complementary sunset cocktails every day, lunch and bar are served only in our lunch restaurant. We believe that, your feedback would give confidence and contribute to encourage our team to strive harder to deliver extraordinary quality services.

May we take this opportunity to thank you again for your valuable feedback! Our entire team at Cala Luna Boutique Hotel & Villas and La Senda look forward to welcoming you back to experience our resort at its best

We took 2 lodges with pools. What a great decision. Our group of dad, mum, daughter in 1 lodge and son, daughter in law and granddaughters in the other worked perfectly.
Good breakfast with choice of cooked or cereal and fruit and pastries was good.
We avoided dinner at hotel with kids. It looked a bit formal.
Drinks one evening were a bit like drinking on the moon - no atmosphere. We were only people there!
Great beach with rustic facilities.
Overall enjoyed lodges but boutique hotel needs further development.

Our second trip to Cala Luna and thought it would be impossible to surpass our first visit, but somehow it did.
It starts with Hugo picking us up at the airport, Irene greeting us like old friends, and the entire staff creating a vibe of relaxation, attention to detail and service that makes CalaLuna what it is. Plenty of reviews accurately describe the perfect setting just outside town, tremendous food, whether its breakfast omelette, lunch by the pool, or gourmet dinner served by staff who make it such a different and pleasurable experience.
But if you want to know and feel what makes Cala Luna special, take in the farm to table dinner at LaSenda. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Griet, Anne, Carlos and Hugo ( and of course the family dogs ) you will understand that their appreciation of the land, the food and the people transcends the entire resort.
We will be back again and look forward to the relaxation of Cala Luna.

Great jungle vibe with beach access. New modern rooms spaced apart in a beautiful tropical setting, very quiet , easy walk to the pool, ocean, restaurant, and main lodge. We saw many monkeys and birds. Very relaxing area overlooking the ocean to read or just enjoy the scenery. The property also has a farm where they grow their vegetables. This was a real learning experience and a outdoor dinner is prepared by their chef who describes all the local ingredients, the salads, appetizers, and the main course.
All the accommodations are very clean, the restaurants are also very good and the breakfast buffet is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can walk on the beach to town,Tomarindo, or take the resort taxi for only $5.

Room tip: I'm that they are all good, however, because of the dense tropical vegetation there are no views
