This place will be amazing when all the villas are renovated. As of right now though it is still really nice and better then some larger 4 star all inclusive resorts. We stayed here May 15-22 with a 4 year old and 2 year old. The staff were amazing with our boys and the beach was great for them to run and find shells. There was only about 30 people staying at the resort and so there was no buffet and every meal was a la carte. The food was the best I have ever had and we were blown away by the a la carte suppers. The shrimp were enormous. The snacks and lunches were basically pub food but was as good or better then most Canadian restaurants. Javier was the best and friendliest waiter and was on top of his game. He was very patient and friendly with my 2 year old also.
Service was at the forefront for us. We were in an unrenovated villa and just asked for a room with a tv for our kids for some quiet time before bed and Andrey the concierge hooked us up with one of their renovated one bedroom villas on the beach. It was literally the best room on the whole resort. We were 20 yards to the beach and since it is such an intimate resort we were still only 100 yards from the restaurant and 60 from the pool. Everything is nice and close unlike the huge resorts.
There is construction going on next door on the sister resort but it was nothing very intrusive. They are also busy renovating many other villas and they are huge and beautiful when they are finished. The ones that aren't complete yet are still very nice and nothing to complain about.
There are iguanas everywhere which the kids loved seeing and the beach has horses running down the beach from a farm where they escaped. We were able to see howler monkeys just beside the resort and across the road and Brainer the security guard showed us pictures of a monkey right in the middle of the resort by the beach. This is something that adds to the reasons to choose Costa Rica as a vacation destination.
The pool was nice with the shallow entry for the kids and the waterfalls and jacuzzi area kept them entertained. Marcos, Allan, and Javier were great in the pool bar even though they had to double between there and the lobby bar. We never had to wait more then a few minutes for a drink and Marcos is an artist with the detail he puts into his drinks.
We had the best all inclusive vacation ever here because of the beauty of Costa Rica and this resort being so empty. It is safe enough to be able to walk outside the resort and check out Samara and Carrillo Beach.
The cons are the 5 hour flight and 2 hour bus ride. Even though the drive is long it is beautiful and there is tons of amazing landscapes and towns to see.
A perfect resort for honeymooners and people looking for a quiet vacation at a picturesque intimate resort.

Room Tip: anything from 1-20 are oceanview and every room is close to everything

We loved it here! The snorkelling was fabulous, and our Monkey Tours guide, Rafael, was second to none. Our room was beautiful, and the pool was great. The swim up pool bartender, Marcos, was awesome! I would recommend this destination for families and couples.

We stayed at this resort for 3 days and I have to say I was happy to leave. The pool was great and it was right off of the beach and I have to say that was the only good part. The toolbar closes at 6pm and the food was very overpriced andvery bland at $37 for the buffet we felt that we would rather take a taxi into town. We tried the pizza once that seemed to be made with bisquick. We booked a snorkelling tour then found out the that the group before us had to share snorkel gear and when we went to ask for a refund they would not accomodate. Also spotty Wi-Fi through out resort

Just back from a week here. Couldn't believe our room when we first arrived with brightly coloured flowers and leaves decorating everything. Great food and drink on the all-inclusive programme. Musical entertainment most evenings. Weather was very hot so the swimming pool was like a bath. Great to swim up to the pool bar for refreshing drinks. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, any problems dealt with almost immediately like when we could open the room safe. Island just off the beach to kayak out to. Nice walk along the beach to Samara village.
Highly recommended.

Went April 19th to 26th of this year with a group of 28 friends and family. Staff were very friendly and took care of us all very well. What I like about this place is I find myself feeling very relaxed in less then 24 hours, a feeling that takes a week at most places. There is something about this area, the fresh air, the ocean, being near a blue zone.

This resort is small with mostly villa style rooms and some hotel rooms. For our retired friends that had mobility challenges it was easy to get around - no hills, 5 minutes walk and you have the place covered. There are many upgraded rooms/villas that are awesome, the older villas are still very nice and are typical decor for a Caribbean restort.

The beach is awesome and there is beachfront access, some of the Villas have ocean view. 25 minute walk down the beach or a $6 USD taxi ride will get you to the town of Samara. Here you will find plenty of dinning options, merchants and night life. Gusto's is amazing, the tuna steak was incredible and man do they know how to make a margarita. My wife is vegan and she could eat pretty much anywhere, Gusto for the best guac and chips, flying taco for falafel poppers (these are amazing with Pico De Gallo) and Luv Burger was amazing.(100% vegan restaurant).

If you are hanging around the swim up pool bar you must try the crazy monkey at least once. The food at the resort is quite good, it is buffet style and there is one al a carte restaurant you can reserve for dinner. I found we hit the town often as the food was amazing but I was not disappointed with the options and quality at the buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

My only complaint was the morning we left. Our bus left at 7 AM so they were to set out a simple breakfast of coffee, pastries and fruit at 6:30 AM. My wife and I got there at 6:40 and less 5 slices of toast there was little evidence breakfast was served. I think they could have planned to have more food available given the size of the group leaving that day.

Overall I love this place, this was my second trip here and will not be my last.

Room Tip: Ask for an updated Villa or room. Ocean view villas may be a bit older but still nice if you are not a 5 star.
