This is a gourmet restaurant and therefore more pricey. The price and quality do match, however. Very good service. We felt safe walking there and back along the beach as it is fairly well lit with private homes along the way as well.

Thank Rhonda G

My wife and I spent 6 days at the Hotel at Cafe de Playa. The service was excellent, the staff was very helpful and professional. Everyone spoke both Spanish and English. The location on the north end of the beach is quiet at night and a short walk to the main street strip. The pool was more than adequate for a hotel with a small number of rooms and kept spotlessly clean. The palms surrounding the pool area made it feel very private. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained.

The food was some of the best I have ever had in Costa Rica. The Chef(s) were putting out some nice dishes consistently. The menu is not large but it has the typical fare that you would expect to find at the beach - fish, shrimp, chicken, beef, and vegan dishes. The mahi-mahi stuffed with shrimp and cheese was a treat - i had it twice. The grilled chicken salad was also very tasty.

The entertainment was done perfectly and attracted plenty of people off the beach and street. On Sunday afternoon Dj Devon Hall entertained the crowd until after sunset. The hammocks on the beach help set the chill vibe on the beach.

If you're looking for a clean, friendly place away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip in Coco you will want to check out Cafe de Playa.

Met a couple staying here at one of the other restaurants said to try the grilled octopus. Thought we would give it a try. Keep an eye out for it or you could drive right by it and not notice. It was good. The restaurant is in the back on the beach. Beautiful setting to watch the Sun go down. They were having a artists with a band painting. It was worth the 10 US dollars fee. Food was not bad but limited. Drinks were strong and good size. They do have a happy hour on drinks and margaritas
It's down off the path towards the beach club. You have to go through the entrance of the hotel for year to get to the back. Or walk up the beach. Had a few parking spots. Everyone was nice and enjoy the evening. They have done this in the past they said and you'll want to make reservations

Yes, there are hammocks on the beach you could be getting pina coladas or Imperials in. There are a variety of couches and casual tables on the beach front facing a fabulous sunset and eating very well prepared fare. Highly recommend the octopus or seafood. We stayed in the Guanacaste region for a week and came here twice. Nice parking in back if you are driving.
