Our 18 day base camp for rest and relaxation on a busy trip.

Wow what a view (see my pics from the room)! Villas Vilma is on the edge of town on the main road right across from Arenal. We were walking distance from some wonderful local eateries & shops and directly across the road is El Turnito Soda, the food was great and we ate the majority of our meals there B, L, S. That is not to say we didn't tour the restaurants of La Fortuna as well. The villas are gated and we felt very safe, the grounds are beautifully flowered and we daily saw the Agouti and Armadillo as well as a selection of birds (especially hummers) and butterflies. The pool was refreshing but not cold with a nice roofed hot tub. We had 3 double rooms with TV, AC and wifi. The resort is small and therefore homey and it was a pleasure to meet and socialize with other guests (and staff) when we liked. I certainly recommend this location and intend to return. Oh and my fave thing was the hammocks on the front porch for late night wine and swinging to sleep. I must honestly state that yes, I now know the owner but this has not prejudiced my review.

Room Tip: With limited rooms the pool was never crowded. On the main road for getting to and from La...

Great location. Very friendly front desk lady. She was soo friendly. Location of the hotel was perfect so we can walk to have breakfast/dinners. Loved the outside patio where we can sit and relax. Rooms were just OK.

We are staying here at the moment for 6 nights over Xmas. We are a family of 5 (kids 10, 10 and 11) and we are absolutely delighted that we chose to stay here!

The little bungalows are very clean, bright and well equipped with small kitchens with fridge/freezer, coffee maker and sink. The bedroom is beautifully decorated and has everything you need - AC (v effective and quiet), fan, safe, nice candle holders and candles, TV, very comfy beds with bedside tables, dressing table with mirror and lots of plug sockets. The bathroom isn’t huge but it’s perfectly nice and the shower is spacious and strong and they provide bath towels as well as towels for the pool. All the bungalows have nice patios at the front with chairs, table, beautiful gardens with a view of the volcano (when it is clear enough!). Since it’s Xmas, the owners decorated the nearest tree with pretty lights we can switch on at night and they also provided sweets on Xmas eve which was lovely! They kindly agreed to have all 5 of us in 1 room and we are perfectly comfortable as we prefer to all fit into 1 room whenever possible.

The swimming pool is absolutely gorgeous! The photos don’t do it justice. It is large and spotless and the hot tub is brilliant and where our kids played for hours!

The location of Villa Vilma is perfect. There are loads of cafes and restaurants outside the front gate - as well as a laundry and shops. And it’s only a 5 min drive into la Fortuna. We have eaten breakfast at the soda directly opposite and at Red Frog and both have been excellent (and cheap). We’ve eaten dinner at a number of the restaurants and they are all fab. We’ve also had nice massages at the massage place a couple of doors away. We’ve driven every day to various local activities like white water rafting, zip lining with Sky Adventures (25 mins), sloth tour, Northfields
Coffee/chocolate tour (3 min drive), etc. and there are hot springs nuts minutes away too but we’ve not been.

All in all, this is a really fabulous place to stay as a base in la Fortuna. The owners are lovely and work hard to make this a wonderful place to stay. We didn’t book up activities through them as I had already arranged everything, but they are very helpful and friendly and I know they do make bookings if needed.

We would definitely come here again and I recommend it to everyone!

We had moved here from another hotel, was the best decision we had made this trip. The staff here is very friendly, they speak English so they can help you get around and support your visit. The rooms are super cute, clean and pretty new construction. Hot water (which is not so obvious here apparently), clean towels and the cheery on top is the beautiful garden and pool/jacuzzi area.
Close to everything you need, you can walk to many restaurants and supermarkets.
We had the best time, thank you for helping us with the cutting board and salad bowl:))))

Villas Vilma is a nice place to stay. The rooms are clean. The grounds are beautiful. The reception staff are very very friendly and informative. They were helpful in booking tours and providing information about local resources. Older buildings, but well kept. Great value!

It was a few years back that we stayed at Hotel Villas Vilma. The grounds are beautiful mancured and designed like a arboretum. The desk folks were almost unaprochable until check out . Then I got a big smile and a warm goodby so i would write a good review,
So I didn't write a revue until now. There is a bus on the adjacent arterial that will take you to lake Arenal but the desk would not explain much about it, I loved the fact the mornings are cool enough for a nice long walk and every afternoon at about four PM ther is a drenching rain to cool everything off. Warning Lake Arenal is real hot midday and there were some sketchy folks around wich is sort of cool. The public park below the Volcano should not be missed do ask about it. The units are nice and colorful and the pool and hot tub are nice. Surronding eats were not much to write home about. The place is ideal for kids.I could live there all year round not like the beach wich zaps my energy,
