We had the greatest time at the ecolodge. William and his staff went above and beyond and made the experience so wonderful. We had the breakfast and dinner two nights and all of our meals were fresh and delicious. We also joined William on the jungle walk and would say it was one of our favorite parts of our stay! The property is lush and beautiful, truly a very special place. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Princesa de La Luna ecolodge nestled in the Lush rainforest near La Fortuna. The room was spacious and lovely, providing a perfect blend of comfort and rustic charm. The natural beauty of the location is unparalleled; we had breathtaking views of the Mount Arenal volcano and surrounding rainforest. Waking up to the sounds of the rainforest and the sight of wildlife around the property is an experience I’ll never forget. The property is large with many hiking trails, and we saw toucans, tayra, and other animals on our walks.

The adventure tour, led by William (the hotel manager), was also a huge highlight – it was a perfect blend of education and adventure. We followed a river through the Lost Canyon area of the rainforest, stopping to dip in springs, rinse off under a lovely waterfall, and learn about the plants and animals of the area. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or simply looking for an unforgettable adventure, this tour is a must-do. It offers a rare chance to connect with nature in a profound and meaningful way.

The staff at the ecolodge were also excellent. William was incredibly attentive and accommodating, and made sure that our stay was as enjoyable as possible. He arranged transportation to local attractions or drove us there himself, and made great recommendations for local activities and travel to our next destination.

We highly recommend Princesa de la Luna to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience in Costa Rica! It’s a true paradise for nature lovers and anyone seeking either tranquility or adventure.

We stayed 4 days at the Princesa, and it was a great start to our Costa Rican vacation. We travelled with 11 people, ages 74 to 10 years old. We had two dinners and 4 breakfast meals there, and everything was delicious, fresh and plentiful. William and Anderson took us on our tour of the property, and helped the old folks through to the waterfall and because of them, we made it and were lucky enough to see our grandchildren playing in a natural waterfall. The pictures on the website tell the story of this beautiful ecolodge. We had bedrooms 1 thought 5, which put us right in the middle of things. We were told to make the lodge our own, and we did. We took over one refrigerator, learned how to make the juice in the morning, and played our games out on the terrace at night. We enjoyed the dogs, cats, frogs and lizards. We walked to Chichas for dinner once, and for drinks every night because our two eldest granddaughters are not legal in Pennsylvania, but they are in Costa Rica. It was a great time, we were part of the rain forest, and I give this hotel the highest possible recommendation.

Room tip: Everyone was just wonderful.

I was looking for an authentic, local experience that was close to nature and the Princesa was all of this and more. We had a large room and a lovely terrace with hammocks overlooking the rainforest.
We opted for the dinner the first night which was my favorite dining experience in Costa Rica. We ate on the large terrace next to the jungle with sounds of birds and other animals all around us. The food was plentiful and delicious and the service was extremely warm.
The next morning we enjoyed breakfast there and didn’t adventure tour with Anderson who took us to a beautiful waterfall and introduced us to dozens of local plants and some animals. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
The lodge is rustic but you are in the midst of a rainforest which is what we wanted.
As someone who spends over 100 nights in hotels a year, staying someplace like the Princesa de la Luna was a refreshing change. It is a great place for those who seek somewhere off the beaten path.

Room tip: Bring sturdy water shoes to hike to the waterfall, bug spray, enjoy the dinner for at least the first night and the breakfast.

2nd visit to this wonderfully relaxed establishment, its quiet and peaceful, lots of lush plantings everywhere. We managed to hike down to the there waterfall , and was able to get within 15-20 feet of its base, you can get showered under the falls but I’d suggest you have them provide you a guided tour if you really want the full waterfall and river hike experience. We also visited both of their river side pools, both are downhill from the main property, one pool looks more natural and the other is more elegant. We were the only ones at the pools the 3 times we visited. We ate breakfast and dinner on property every day. Our meals were served family style and all were delicious. We sure had our fill of fresh fruits and fruit juice. Staff was attentive and sincere, we enjoyed interacting with them and they made our experience more enjoyable and more Costa Rican. There suggestion on activities were spot on , we did the pure trek canyoning which was just up the hill only a couple of minutes away , so almost no travel time and pure trek provided a exciting and professionally run operation. They also provided a great recommendation for a hot springs, we had done baldi in the past and it was great as an outing for international visitors, this time at our request they provided a recommendation on a visiting a hot springs that locals Costa Rican might visit. One of our party speaks fluent Spanish, so it was easy, And we really enjoyed our visit to the hot springs. Moral of the story, explain what you want and listen to their suggestions
And the view of arenal Volcano was inspiring.
All in our party enjoyed our time spent at Princessa de la Luna

Room tip: Enjoy the hammocks and feel the peacefulness of a Costa Rican retreat

La Princesa de la Luna in La Fortuna, Costa Rica was perfect - right size for our three generations, excellent location, and beautiful. Our stay was even better because of William and his staff. Everyone was helpful and congenial. William’s knowledge, flexibility, and warmth made our stay and our adventure exceptional. Highly Recommend. Thank you William.
