Was a very nice stay on Plantation Island. Good boat trip over from mainland Greeters with shell necklaces sang to us as we arrived. Parts of island were run down but like everywhere the more you pay the more you receive. Rooms were air-conned which you really need in February. There is a buffet type restaurant that features Theme nights. Nothing special I felt. Bur you could walk to two other restaurants for dining. One was closed for reno but had several excellent meals at other with entertainment also. Sadly was not impressed with coral. It seems to be bleaching out there too. But you can still snorkel off the beach and see some things. The usual day trips were available at a cost but free use of SUP's and canoes. Good for children.

We have been to Fiji on many occasions as a family and we love the country but sadly not plantation island. I have rated plantation poor for the following reasons.
Firstly the beach is very nice and the "bula bikes" were a big hit with the kids but that is about it.
The food is bad and you pay a fortune for it.
It was common place when ordering a drink from the bar for bar staff to simply get a used glass, rince it under a cold tap and re use it so I would rate hygiene as poor.
Staff moral was disappointing. They were not the happy and hospitable people that Fiji has a well deserved reputation for.
Our accomadation was good and clean how ever we were in the midle of a construction site with constant noise. We also had no water one day. There are no fersilitys in your rooms and the community washing machines are normally out of order so don't expect to wash your cloths why your there.
Kids club is ok but has no air conditioning and it needs it!
We raised our concerns with staff re no water ect but they didn't really care until we were about to leave.
In summary Plantation Island is way over priced an I would recommend looking elsewhere

Bula 93locky,

Thank you for posting a review about your stay at Plantation Island Resort. We are so disappointed that you did not enjoy your holiday with us.

It is not common place at Plantation Island Resort for bar tenders to be rinsing dirty glasses. There must have been some sort of misunderstanding here, with all the dish washers around there is no reason to rinse a dirty glass in front of guests. We are very sorry if this is the impression you got.

Again we are very sorry that you got the impression that our staff were not happy. Staff friendliness is normally what we rate highly on, in June 2018 guests rated staff friendliness as 8.7 out of 10.

We take your feedback on board about air-conditioning in the Kids Club, we will consider this as part of any future refurbishments of this facility.

The guest washing machines are not "normally out of order", some were temporarily out of order during your stay. Our Customer Care Manager offered for you to bring your clothes to be washed in the Housekeeping laundry, however you chose not to bring them.

There was no water in your Bure for 1 hour due to a breakdown in one of the pipes, it was not for 1 full day. We are very sorry for this, I hope someone at the Resort apologised to you for this.

We would like to say sorry for the areas where we let you down, we wish you enjoyed your holiday more.

Warm Regards,

Akshay Singh

Be careful if you choose to stay here. We were charged twice on checkout. 2 months later, many emails back and forwards including providing bank stamped documents confirming the a transaction an not a ‘pre authorisation’ as they have claimed and I still don’t have my money back. Very disappointing.

Bula Chanel0584,

Thank you for posting a review on Tripadvisor. I have sent you an email this morning which included a letter of apology from the Bank of South Pacific for incorrectly charging your credit card twice. They have processed the refund on the 20th of June 2018 so hopefully you should see the money in your account soon.

I am sorry that it has been a stressful time post your stay at Plantation Island Resort but glad it has been resolved.

Warm Regards,

7 day stay, weather was perfect every day. Nice room 2 adults 2 children. Hired bikes to get about. Pricey for food in restaurant/bar and little stores and bike hireage. But beautiful little island lots of water activities 3x pools, beach, snorkeling, bouncy castles in sea, kayaks, boat rides etc. great for families, staff friendly and helpful.

Run down, over priced and boring.
On arrival there were problems with rooms for a few of our party. That was just to start.
I thought the rooms were ok, my partner doesn’t agree. He thinks they are tired and shabby. The general hotel was really tired, shabby and run down.
Then there was the cost. $28 Fiji dollars for a cocktail that was on tap. Meals were hideously expensive and it was mass produced buffet style.
The bed was made with two single sheets, one across the bottom of the bed and the other across the top. It made for an interesting sleep.

Bula Lynn H, thank you for posting a review about your recent stay at Plantation Island Resort. It is disappointing that you did not enjoy your holiday.

Firstly, there are no cocktails on tap at Plantation Island Resort. Yes FJ$28 (or AU$18) for a cocktail is not the cheapest in the world, however it is served on an isolated island in the Pacific. FYI cocktails at Hamilton Island range between AU$16.50 - AU$20.50.

Yes Ol Copra Shed Restaurant is a Buffet Restaurant, however we also have the Black Coral Restaurant (a la carte) and Snack Bar to choose from if you don't feel like buffet. Again FJ$58 (AU$37) per person for an all you can eat buffet is not the cheapest in the world, but I am not sure it can be described as hideously expensive.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by your comments RE sheets on your bed, but if you were uncomfortable I hope that you raised it with our team and we fixed the problem for you.

Again it is disappointing that you did not enjoy your holiday with us, we are sorry for the areas that we let you down.

Many thanks,

Akshay Singh
