Dram is a cool spot right in the center of Mountain Brook Village. The restaurant is centered around a large bar and is a great place to grab dinner by yourself or with a group. Dram has one of the best burgers in town and is also one of the few Birmingham restaurants in the area that offers a decent amount of outside seating.

And if Dram is full, head upstairs to Avo (short for avacado). Avo has a slightly different vibe- and a more upscale menu. Though you can order from both no matter where you sit.

We had been wanting to try this and dropped in on a Wednesday evening with friends. I'm not actually a whiskey drinker so can't comment on the offering ls there. I can say that this place can really do a burger, they have several options, and that the fried okra app is delicious. The relationship between Dram and Avo is confusing, share an entrance, share a website, and some menu items, and seemingly staff. I called the number for Dram to make a reservation and upon arriving was informed that my reservation for Avo was moved to Dram because they closed Avo because it was a slow night. This was fine with me since we wanted the Dram menu anyway.
Very nice casual atmosphere in a great location with a really tasty, slightly upscale burger.

Hey there! Thanks so much for the nice review! We are so glad you enjoyed the burger and okra fries! Sorry for the confusion on avo and dram. They operate together, same ownership. Avo tends to be closed around the 4th of July and other major holidays to give some of the staff time off to enjoy them. We are so glad you came in!

My husband and I do enjoy a good whiskey so we thought we would check it out. Not only was the whiskey great, the food was outstanding as well. But do not let the name fool you! They have many more options than just whiskey

The location and interior are very peasant. There is also an outdoor patio. Good selection of beers, scotch, and bourbon. Pours are highly regulated in Alabama apparently. Service was good. We didn't try the food.

Can we take a minute to talk about how beautiful the interior of this place is? Natural shiplap?! Please! So I had the lamb burger after reading reviews and it did not disappoint. It paired perfectly with the sweet potato mash and yin-yang martini. Perfect place to meet up with friends... we were there on a Saturday evening and it wasn't at all shoulder to shoulder so we were thankful for that! My husband enjoyed the numerous whiskeys on the menu but it felt like they were out of many of the ones he requested. All in all, great food, great atmosphere!
