Owner description: The Civil Rights Memorial Center is sponsored by the Southern Poverty Law Center in downtown Montgomery. It includes a great deal of educational information about the Civil Rights Movement, a movie about the movement, and a memorial monument. $2.00 admission is charged.

When we visited the Southern Poverty Law Center, repair work was underway in the area of the Memorial and Fountain and it was only visible through a window but that did not diminish our grasp of the costs of the lives sacrificed to further a cause not fully realized
today.

The video was excellent. The hands on connection with voices and committed activists were excellent.
I learned more about the victims of the Orangeburg (SC) Massacre in a personal story that each told. This is my home state and I felt nausea and shame.

There should be mobil opportunities to educate our nation about the egregious and senseless murders.
Unfortunately everyone will not come to Montgomery but the story should be taken nationwide.

This is not something appropriate for anyone under twelve.

I was traveling with my 6 grandchildren (ages 6-14) and they were both interested and engaged as they wandered through the memorial finding and counting the murdered from their states. Both sad and thought provoking. The sculpture was stunning also.

brilliantly designed, a quiet place for thoughts and reflection. A place that reminds us of man's worse traits and his best.

Small memorial but very profound. Gives you an understanding of the significance of everyone who died during the Civil Rights Movement.
