We travelled from south Goa, which in itself was an ordeal by road! You have to visit Anjuna though if in Goa. Tourist market but good fun, sellers are hilarious sometimes. Worth a visit for the colours and sights and smells.

I've been so many times to this Wednesday market mainly because of the live music that's played in the afternoon, so it makes it a fun activity to do with friends. We've been by boat from Baga beach and by taxi, and also by scooter because there's ample parking there. The variety of clothes, wooden carvings, shawls, jewellery and foodstuffs make it an eclectic adventure to walk around the place, but I have to say for myself that I'm only able to shop for a maximum of about an hour because of the heat and the crowds there. Just as well then, that there are two bars inside, Cafe Looda and Sea Breeze, which offer a respite from the bargain hunting with their tables and chairs, cold beer and great live music. It's always a fun afternoon and highly recommended to those wanting a change of scene from the beach for a few hours.

This Wednesday market is huge and offers a large variety of Indian made goods. The prices are generally good, especially for those skilled at the art of bargaining.

It was a fun market - there are a couple of bars and live music and the atmosphere isn't too pushy. It goes on all day but prices start to lower around 5pm (although if it's been a slow day some stalls pack up then too)

From what I'd read I was expecting to find an array of stalls selling wares from all across India, along with jewellery and crafts handmade locally but I was disappointed with the variety.

So many stalls stocked the same thing - every case of rings was the same, every display of shawls, bags and bedspreads were the same. And yes they were nice but it meant it didn't feel like anything was special.

It's fine for clothes or little souvenirs but if you see something special you like in the rest of India, make sure you buy it at the time!
