“Perfect holiday getaway”
Reviewed 2 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We stayed at Serenity Villa for 12 nights over the Christmas break. On arrival we were greeted with a Sri Lankan breakfast which was very welcome after a long journey. Sarath & Roshan are both wonderful, offering advice and help. Roshan also has a tuk tuk and we did a couple of trips with him to local places of interest. The villa is well kept, clean and in a good location. It is surrounded by paddy fields and approx 900 metres from the beach along a reasonably busy road, so it is easy to pick up a tuk tuk if it too hot to walk. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped although we didn't really do any cooking. The owner Dammika was really helpful, arranging transfers from the airport and responding to any queries within a couple of hours. Very impressed with this house and can't recommend it enough for a home from home getaway!

“amazing place to stay”
Reviewed 11 March 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We stayed in the house for 4 nights during our honey moon trip around Sri Lanka. Its an amazing place! so calm.. so beautiful!))) the house is situated far enough from the main road so we were no disturbed by the buses and cars at all. right inside the house theres a pool with fish and it was nice to listen to the sound of water during the night. an actually huge garden where the kids could play. the nature around is outstanding. everything is so green and clean)
the house is equipped by everything you can need during thee long stay: the kitchen, fridge, tv, wash mashine)) there also bikes which we used every day. it took us like 10-15 mins to get to the center. we were very happy to keep fit a lil )))
the gardener came to visit us every evening and was always eager to help us if we had some problems.. once we were very tired and forgot to buy water so he was so kind to go to the shop by his bike and buy it for us)))))

this is for sure one of the few places i would like to come in the future with kids also)

“Beautiful Jungle Cottage”
Reviewed 5 March 2016 for a stay in November 2015

We had an amazing stay starting from the airport transport that was arrange by the owner till the day that we left. The villa is beautiful and warm with it's wooden veranda that overlooks on a field filled with colourful birds. The beds were comfortable with well kept mosquito nets. The gardens of the villa are absolutely as well with fruits ready for you to pick and lovely flowers! It is a bit further to the town then what you would expect but the street next to the villa has many tuk tuk passing by at all time and for a 2-3 $ 5 minutes ride it's not a problem at all.
Check out for the around the property!!! :)
Would definitely go back! Thanks for everything Dammika!

“Jungle Home from Home”
Reviewed 3 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

The villa is initially quite difficult to find as the locals don't know of it but this comes to add to its charm. About 1 km from the main coast road at Narigama beach, the villa is close enough to cycle or walk to the beach and Hikkaduwa itself but far enough away to feel like you are living with the locals and amongst the jungle and paddy fields both teeming with wildlife. The compound is secure with high walls and locking gates....not that we ever felt unsafe in our time there and the helper that comes with the villa is always willing to stay at the house whilst you are away from it for added security.
The gardens are lush and full of coconut palms, cinnamon bushes and lots of other tropical plants. We enjoyed seeing massive fruit bats, peacocks, parrots, chipmunks and monkeys in the trees and listening to the frogs and insects at night from the terrace.
The house itself is big and roomy and fans help to keep it cool. Sri Lanka is very humid and we regularly had temperatures over 40 degrees.
The owner was extremely helpful and replied immediately to all of our enquiries both efore and during our stay and the house help did an amazing job of keeping the place clean and made us some fantastic breakfasts during our stay (3Euros each extra) which were good value and often too much for the four of us to finish.
There are 2 resident dogs which keep themselves to themselves and live outside - they keep away all of the other local waifs and strays!
We enjoyed exploring the surroundings and found the bakery was only 2 minutes up the road from the house.
This way of staying in Sri Lanka was for us, a family of four with grown up children, great value for money.
We would love to come back one day.
