We skipped the caves and choose instead to climb up the steps, I went up both on the dragon cliff an the smaller cliff opposite. There are quite a few tourists up here so it's no easy to get a photo in, also this location is popular with local wedding photography crews. The climb up is not easy but if you take it slow it's manageable. As we got to the place near sunset the clifftops (including the dragon) was too busy to go up to, from below it looked a bit unsafe as well: no barriers or steady platform to stand on was visible, only jagged rock. We went over to the smaller cliff with the little white tower on it, another great location to take photos. Looks like the place gets really busy around sunset.

The cave is interesting, but the climb and the views from atop the nearly-500 stairs, are the most gorgeous you can imagine.

Worth climbing even if you have to rest a lot along the way - everyone does. About halfway up there’s even a small cafe selling drinks, ice cream, etc. with a few chairs.

My sister and I completed the hike this morning and were a bit concerned as there were several reviews talking about the men stopping them, shouting at bikers, trying to make them park etc. What we did was go early, at 830am, and there was only one group of men and we just biked around them when they came out into the middle of the road. There were 5 or so parking areas though so I can see how past reviews said there were several people yelling at bikers to stop and pay.

We drove right up to the gates and didn’t have to pay for parking and there was room behind the main gates. We also were there before all the tourists came and before it got too hot (although it was still sweaty after the stairs!) so we were able to get some great photos.

I’d recommend the earlier the better. Enjoy, the views are breathtaking!!

Loved it.
Bring sneakers to hike in
Amazing views. Iconic Vietnam.
Children and older hikers also made it to the top.
Sunset was beautiful.
There's a cafe halfway up!
Do not miss.

Climb up. See the amazing view at dusk.

Caves are awful. Don't bother. Steep entry fee unless staying at the ecolodge (also overpriced imho).

Worth a look
