“Perfect sojourn”

The communications we had with the owners, from the first query to the last were outstanding; helpful & polite. They write & speak very good English.
They kindly greeted us from the ferry. There are 3 apartments next door to each other & are part of an old large Croatian house.
The owners live upstairs, they are warm, lovely people.
The apartment served us very well, it catered for all our needs. We like to buy local produce to cook ourselves; we were able to do this with ease. The kitchen preparation area is small but manageable, the hob has 3 gas rings & 1 electric ring, fan oven, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, freezer etc. all in a compact, open, easily accessible space. Even though the preparation area is small, there are plenty of storage cupboards (with plenty of cooking utensils) & drawers (again with all we needed). We were more than pleasantly surprised when we discovered the home from home necessities - a collection of basic essentials. Excellent idea & very well received. Cooking oil, salt, pepper, vinegar & sugar all ready & waiting to be used. Fantastic gesture & one which especially pleased me as I always forget to bring them. We have always had to go & purchase these on arrival. There were also dishcloths, scourers, washing up liquid & tea towels. So well planned, with the customers needs considered. The bathroom is lovely, spacious & well appointed.
The apartment is open plan. It is well designed, has a pretty curtain which can be drawn if required to separate the sitting & sleeping areas. There is a small dining table, a bed settee & tv. We preferred to use the settee as a day bed as well as the other king size bed :)
The washing machine is located in the bathroom with washing powder clothes basket & pegs all provided. It's these little things which really make such a difference.

We were lucky enough to have lovely neighbours during our stay, even enjoying sharing a few sociable moments with them too.

It's a lovely, friendly/welcoming environment, all surrounding your own private apartment - friendly but without being imposing. Best of both worlds.
You can socialise as little, or as much as you want, the choice is yours also allowing privacy for those lazy days; dozing, reading a book bathing in the sun - when you just don't want to go to the beach, swim, walk or explore the island. I had a couple of days like that, it was very comfortable, hot & peaceful. The apartment really served all of our needs well. A huge bonus too, there is a bbq to use in the garden, which is great fun & it helped to create the flavours of authentic Croatian dining. Such a pleasure to experience, as well as producing such tasty, delicious food.

The house is situated in an authentic, charming part of the fishing village. A myriad of steps, paths, olive lined gardens & streets, fig & lemon trees to be found on many routes which lead down to the harbour, restaurants & beaches. All of the routes are worthy of exploring. We tried to take a different path each time, as there is so much to experience - we discovered soft, sweet juicy fresh figs straight from the branch to quench our thirst on route - wonderful!

Locally sourced meat can be purchased from the butchers, fresh fish can be purchased from the fish market, selling only the mornings catch. We had bbq'd blue fish for the first time ever (lokarda) & bbq'd sardines. YUM. It was truly wonderful to be able to cook & eat, enjoy dining as the locals do without having to go out into restaurants every evening.

We also had the use of provided bicycles, which are great for when you want to explore the parts which can be accessed (a lot of Bol is hilly, but there are many areas you can cycle to).

What more can I say except it's a wonderful island, a wonderful village, a wonderful apartment, we had the most wonderful time. The hosts/owners are an asset to Bol/Croatia - they are delightful, genuine, kind & warm.
We will miss Brac, Bol & its warm friendly ambiance. We will return - in fact we're hoping to arrange a holiday with more family members next time :)
