This hotel is a factory for tourism. Restaurant food is cold, restaurants are cold and in spite of its glitzy interior appearance, the reception is cold. I guess this is due to the intense number of Chinese travelers passing through on their way to the scenic areas. We booked the room on points that I had saved up and, boy oh boy, what a disappointment. Never again will I use points to reserve a room. "We have upgraded your room sir to deluxe." Huh, joke. Large enough, yes, in a part of the building that should have been renovated a long time ago. Mold inside the room along the tile floor around the outside walls; dirt on the carpet and a shower that holds water like a swimming pool. If you enjoy standing in 2" of cold water while taking a shower then contact me for the room number. All round bad experience. I suggest trying the Sheraton, perhaps they know better what a five star hotel should offer.

Hotel was beautiful, you could see the sky and everything. Their were restaurants there and shops. Rooms were ok. Hotel looks luxurious and it is one of the best hotels around here. Pretty satisfied overall

Dear Guest,
Thank you for choosing InterContinental Resort Jiuzhai Paradise and sharing your comments. The hotel is located in the middle of the forest, which is close to Ganhaizi area and surrounded with wonderful lanscape and mountains. It is a 30 miutes drive away from the National Park. We provide one shuttle bus to the National Park on daily basis. We can also help you with car renting. Hope you can come back to experience the half day hotel tour. Have a nice day! My friends and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Located right at the foot of the mountains in the forest, the setting is one of a kind. Upon arrival we are all amazed by the grand lobby and the common areas.

Unfortunately, the admiration stops there because the rooms are old, the furniture way too heavy for modern lifestyle and the rooms are separated into several wings. Our group rooms are divided into two different wings which is rather inconvenient.

The bed and pillows are hard, shower drain clogged. Bathroom tiles are dark. Vanity almost comes off. Despite the large furniture, storage space is minimum.

Breakfast and dinner at the hotel is great. But after three days you can tell that the variation is limited. They repeat most of the items in the buffet selection. But maybe all hotels are like that.

Staff speaks almost no English at all, luckily a few people in our group speak OK Mandarin.

Overall, it's a grand hotel. But it's time they updated the rooms. And it's still the best hotel in the mountains.

Yes this is probably the best hotel in the JuiZhaiGuo region, however there is not a great deal of local competition. I was expecting a little more from an 5 star "Intercontiental" branded Hotel. We stayed for a week in May. This is a good hotel with good (if a little aged) facilities... however it could be great. With more attention to detail and better staff training.

Reception - Took 40min to get into the room. This is unforgivable consider they knew our arrival time and even assisted with getting a taxi to bring us from the airport 40min away.
Cleanliness - Yes clean (but only Man Clean as my wife would say) -- could be better. I was cleaned to the local Chinese standard (your are in the countryside)
Restaurants - We ate in all of them. Expensive but Good. Make sure you try the BBQ lamb - delicious!! There are no restaurants near the hotel - at least a 30min drive to 'town' for anything else. Breakfast is a huge buffet you will find something you like. Coffee was undrinkable- need to train staff in how the clean and maintain the machine.
Pool - Awesome location! under a huge glass atrium. There are some hot pools and an enormous regular pool. Sadly the water in the so cold it is not worth going in! Also the formality of having to go through the spa to get to the pool is another barrier.
Spa - Good. Best foot massage in ages. We went three times.
Staff - An over-abundance, most of then are not doing much (low season), invariably they are helpful and well meaning. All a dressed in local traditional garments. Staff should be rotated to coastal intercontinentals to gain more experience (and develop some insight into customer expectations).
Environment - Amazing for China it is clean outside!! The hotel should develop a few trails and provide a usable map. The current map they have is absolutely hopeless - guaranteed to get lost. Lots of beautiful birds in the area.
Hotel - Gardens, shops and restaurants are located under a giant glass dome the best feature of the hotel. Yes it will get cool-cold depending on the season/outside weather conditions ...bring a jacket, etc.

With over 1000 rooms quality tends to suffer - Glad we were not here during peak season. Many of the staff are local people that need training to help them to understand what service is. As a comparison we were in the Shang Hai intercontiental the previous month - JiuZhaiGuo has better facilities but do not execute the vision as well as Shang Hai.

Intercontinental Hotel is said to be the only good hotel at Jiuzhaigou besides the Sheraton hotel. Services and staffs at reception and conceige were not very good.
Stayed 3 nights. Room was big , but the heater in the room was not working and the room was freezing. We did ask for heater from housekeeping and they brought us one to heat up the room. Wifi in the room was just ok!!!.
Breakfast buffet, they had many selections but most of the foods were oily. We only had bread and croissants for breakfast as we didn't want to have stomach upset having oily breakfast during our exploring to Jiuzhagou Reserve Nature Park and Huanglong. We had dinner hot pot at one of the hotel restaurants. It was okay and because the hotel restaurants didn't have much choices for foods and mostly there were all spicy oily foods so we went for the hot pot ( non Spicy ) every night.
It was an hour drive from hotel to Jiuzhai Nature Reserve Park.
In Jiuzhai Valley, most people either stay at intercontinental Hotel or the Sheraton.
