Beside cabanas and rooms, Thaka-Thaka provides as well a campsite for just a handful of small tents. Sun sails help to keep the campsite cool.
The whole place including bathrooms is kept pretty clean and prices are reasonable.
However, the best thing is: Inside Thaka-Thaka it's quiet and calm, while the quirky and crowded main road is just outside the well-guarded door.
Made the same experience for the first time already 8 years ago and can now just re-confirm it.

We had quadruple occupancy room. The room is spacious enough. The staff is beyond good. They helped us with arranging taxis for Luna valley. They helped call our "Enjoy Atacama" guide and helped us with various queries.

Though the rooms dont have showers, the common bathrooms are very clean and regularly cleaned. So, all in all fabulous place to stay!

Comfortable room and very clean.

For the price however I'd have expected wifi everywhere (only available in reception or the pool), and not to have to go outside across the dirt to go to the toilet or showers.

We spent two nights at Takha Takha Hotel, and booked it primarily for its location right in the heart of San Pedro de Atacama - it's close enough to walk to restaurants, and our tour shop, and was economical to boot. We booked a private room, and it was small, but exactly what we needed, with a small, clean private bath and beds. There were some lovely outdoor seating and dining areas, and a desert garden. The wifi here was intermittent because of the high winds in the area, but that can be expected at any guest house in the area. In addition to standard rooms, the hotel has superior rooms (more traditional hotel rooms), rooms with shared baths, and camping. All in all, it was a great base of operations, and it didn't break the bank.

Room tip: Book early to get the type of room you want!

This is the cutest spot to stay! The first two nights we stayed in a standard room- if you're on a budget it's a good deal, but be aware the standard rooms are next to the street and you can hear cars! Bring ear plugs. The third night we in a superior room. This room was very lovely. We adored the shower and the atmosphere. Everyone in the office is nice and will help you book tours or print your tickets! Wish we had more time here.
