The rooms were nice, bathroom was nice and spacious. I liked the small dining area just behind the front door, separated from the bedroom. Breakfast buffet is decent and the whole 1st floor was renovated nicely.

I particularly like the hotel porter who I found very gracious and attentive. Not sure I can say the same with receptionists. Some could not speak English, which I found unusual. And one got our wifi passwords seriously mixed up.

We first time travelled to Rio de Janeiro. Therefore I chose a hotel which I beleived is located that we can see both the Sugar loaf mountain AND the Jesus Christ statue. This hotel was one of the only ones available on booking.com for the period I had to book. The room is okay. They call it a suite. The aircon was not cold enough, and it was noisy. Remembered me of the old days in Hong Kong. The staff are friendly. Some of theme very. We had the pleasure of a receptionist offering himself as a private tour guide. Nice person. We did invite him to the fugo restaurant, the best of it's kind. Otherwise there are for sure better hotels in Rio.....

We had room 905, it's at the back of the hotel and offers a view of Christ the Redeemer. It's 2 single beds. The bathroom and room is a good size. The breakfast is decent and contains, fruits, juices, bread, cakes.and ham. You also have the TV playing. The overall stay was good. The lift goes to the 8th floor and you must walk up the stairs to the 9th floor. The person on reception the morning we arrived, was lukewarm, but the rest of the staff were fantastic. It's a good location from the metro and beach, both less than 10 minute walk and very close to Santos Dumont airport. Supermarkets, KFC and Mcdonalds are both less than 10 minute walk.
Would certainly stay here again.

Room tip: Room 905, get a view of Christ the Redeemer

..if you have other options, don't come here.
Hotel is very very noisy, no acoustic isolation at all. Noise is coming from the road where cars are running even all the night and also from the inside where the waiters are talking each other with very loud voice.
AC is old, dusty and....noisy!
Room is poor furnished with very basic elements.
Bathroom is big with large shower cabin and a Jacuzzi that I was not so brave to check.
All the rooms and corridor in first and (partially) second floor smells of food, mainly garlic, because the kitchen has very poor ventilation with outside.
Gym is not in the hotel but just on the other side of the front road and is quite new and doesn't belongs to hotel but has an agreement with hotel.
Rooms are very expensive, more or less two times with the other hotel just right aside of Mengo Palace.
Breakfast is good with lots of fruit.
Laundry service is unbelievable fast! Give them in the morning and back in the afternoon. If you want to avoid the hotel recharge the laundry is just out of the hotel on the left.

Of the 3 hotels we stayed in this one offered the best breakfast. There was a huge variety of food that met the need of picky eaters. Staff was helpful and friendly. Very tight quarters for a family of four. Priced right based on location.
