You are sending me this evaluation in Portuguese even thought I asked for the English version!
Cleaning was not good. Service was no good.Too high level of the noise from the street and the sea.
We came one day after the paid time and still you tried to charge as for two bottles of water! Horrible!

Room tip: The hotell has no quality level of four stars, hardly two! Everything was a bad experience- now even this evaluation form in wrong language.

My mother and aunt absolutely loved it, they said it was the perfect place to relax, The beach is right in front and they were provided towels, umbrellas and even chairs for it. They specially loved the breakfast. The only downside is that the restaurant was really expensive and the room service charged them extra without telling them, but that's not really a huge issue specially if you expect to spend more.

I liked the hotel. Far from the center, the ocean and the beach are clean, fewer people than on Copacobana.
The hotel is new, modern.
Breakfast is standard, a week tired, all the time there was not enough coffee, quickly ended.
Good sound insulation, no neighbors can be heard.
Beautiful view from the roof.
The room is clean, there was a side view of the sea, mountains, houses - very beautiful.
There is a service on the beach with chairs, umbrellas and a towel. You can rent a bike for 15 r.

Last November 2018 I went on a short vacation trip with friends to Rio. We all stayed at the Laghetto Stillo Barra. We had 8 rooms, most on the same floor.

First, someone noticed 100 dollars was missing from his cash stash left in the locked room safe, but he doubted himself (that’s how they get away with it most times) and didn’t mention it.

That same day another friend, also noticed he was missing money (again one $100 bill) from the safe. After alerting the rest of the group we’ve noticed money from 5 of our rooms has been stolen. In most cases they took only one 100 dollar bill… I was hit the hardest as I had a larger amount of cash. All combined we were missing $1,500.

We reported the theft to the reception’s staff (Mr. Hugo, who was of great help), to later deal directly with the hotel manager (Ms. Christina, who was not very cooperative). Their first reaction was to deny stealing from their room safes was even possible. Then we were told to go to the police station to initiate a theft report, so the hotel can open an investigation with their insurance company (?). We didn’t want to spend our vacation time like that. It was looking like it was going to be unresolved.

The hotel staff proceeded to get the room lock readings. I brought to their attention the elevator’s hallway camera was pointed directly at our door. They said everything was coming back normal, only room keepers and minibar restocking staff have had access to our rooms. "Then, there you go!' I said.

Fortunately, after wasting hours + some stress/ arguing with the hotel management, they’ve accepted they ‘have a problem with their employees’ (which by reading recent posts they still have 'such problem'), and agreed to reimburse us the room fees, to compensate for the loss. It came out to be close to even, we lost only a small amount.

Side note; generally hotel policies are ‘Hotel is not responsible for belongings left in the room safe’. A hotel owner once said ‘providing individual room safes came to replace the common reception’s safe for guests use,… it also replaced the hotel’s liability for missing items from the safe box’.

In our experience, the hotel staff repeated argument was that ‘room safes can only be opened with the code you entered, or a master key kept by hotel security, that once used resets your code’.

Well, that’s simply NOT the only way room safes can be opened,… someone opened our safes, went trough our belongings, took just enough money to make it very hard to notice (like 1 bill, as usually you won’t count your money everyday), closed the safe and left it working with the same code we’ve punched. Even if you think you may be missing one bill, most travelers would think they may have spent a bit extra or miscounted their money before the trip… that’s how strong the concept of the room safe is.

Also, it’s virtually impossible to demonstrate what they steal, how much they take, and how they operate. Then, I’m wondering how far up does this scam go? Is this a room keeper’s job? Is hotel security involved? Does it get all the way up to management?

I know now, stealing from hotel room safes is a much common event than most people think. Just google it and you’ll find instructional videos and thieves caught on camera opening safes in the US, Spain, Mexico, Caribbean, etc. You can even buy ‘hotel safe lock straps’!

So, if this system continues unmodified, let me tell you it’s a very profitable (although criminal) operation… at, lets say only 100 dollars per room a week, at 300+ rooms… well, you do the math.
