We visited Maracaipe to have a relaxing weekend. The "xales" are really simple but well taken care, with kitchen and comfortable furniture. The breakfast has many different options including regional food. The best of this pousada definitely is the view... Facing a beatiful sea, with different little places to relax and really inspirational decoration everywhere.

This place in situated between two great beaches not to mention the beach in front of you so you have plenty of variety and won't be bored. The grounds at the Xale are well maintained and very peaceful and tranquil. Rooms are a little on the rustic side (at least mine was) but I didn't go their to stay in my room with all the beautiful surrounding. The breakfast buffet was good (included )but I always went into town or Porto de Galinhas for lunch about R$100 a little on the pricy side. In Maracaipe you catch a small bus into Porto Galinhas for R$5 or a taxi for about R$25 or just walk a long the beach until you get there about 3km

Room Tip: I would recommend one of the free standing Xales for a little more privacy.

Arrived in the evening after 22:00hrs and the night watchman, Senior Antonio was there to greet us with a huge smile and the key to our room. We went straight to sleep lulled by the waves breaking on the shoreline and awoke in the morning by birds singing and water lapping on the shore. What a beautiful grey morning as we made our way to the reception to sign in and then to the restaurant for breakfast and was met by huge smiles and friendly faces and a hearty good morning by Snr. Anibal who introduced himself and his staff, it only took a few days to feel at home in this quite restful place where everyone is only too pleased to help out with any and everything. The local minimarket delivers by motor bike taxi as does the pharmacist, you leave your shopping list with reception and they take care of the rest. It only costs ten reias where as if you took a taxi to Porto das Galinhas it is 20 reias there and 20 reias back. A word of advice always ask reception to call a taxi for you as they use a reliable service that you could hire for the day to take you on outings or drop you in Porto das Galinhas and arrange a time and place to pick you up. Be aware that the taxi drivers in Porto refuse to drive to Maracaipe as the roads are in very bad condition and full of holes which fill up with water after the rains. Do not be put off by the shanty looking village, the people are friendly and helpful with advice however, you will have a problem if you do not speak the language. Breakfast at Xales is very good and has a bit of everything to suit all tastes. Everyday scramble egg is on the menu but if you prefer fried or boiled, just ask, including, ham, cheese different cakes and fresh fruits and the most delicious coffee ever. Anytime after 11:00 a.m. you can get a cold drink or something stronger and a snack or hot meal at the restaurant which is open until 21:00hrs in the evening. I must stress that this is not a place for those who want a night life and luxury, it is for peace and quiet and relaxation. We took mosquito repellent as well as an electric wall plug anti mosquito device for our room, therefore our room was mosquito free. The problem is that outdoors the are very tiny little blood suckers that you do not see or hear but feel, I was bitten several times but did not itch however my husband did. Farm animals walk around and do not seem to be bothered by the people. A word of advice, the electric lines are underground so if you do not have any candles ( we had lots of citronella candles for the mosquito's ) take a flashlight as when it rains heavily at night the electricity goes out. We enjoyed our holiday very much and hope to go back sometime in the future...

They give you a small house, with a functional kitchen, a dinner and rooms: if you go with over 2 people, you want to do your groceries and save on cooking, this is your place.
But if you are as a couple and you want a hotel level service, this is not your cookie: beware of the mosquitoes (I agree with other reviewer) and bring insect repelent.
Don't get me wrong: it has a nice feeling the place and the people are GREAT but definitely it is a matter of economics. Please see the pictures I attach, if you bring your kids and you want a long term vacation, economically this makes sense.
Any other situation, you should think to check other hotels before making your decision.

Amazing to have the joy of experience such a paradising beach with a carefull staff in Xales de Maracaípe.
The negative point is related to insects, but nothing that the place itself don't surpass by it beauty.
