This tour was excellent. Everything flowed from airport pickup, the Manaus Hostel, travel to the Lodges on the Rio Urubu, the guides, the lodge facilities, the program of activities, and mix of people coming, staying and going. Staying at the Manaus Hostel was well worth it. It is clean, well run, with good rooms, a good breakfast, interesting artwork, and excellent customer-focussed staff.
Like a lot of places in Brazil, the Hostel and Lodges and Brazilian roads could do with some maintenance. However there appeared to be a program of maintenance and improvement underway during our stay at the Lodges.
The whole experience is good value for money and we appreciated the assistance of all the staff at the Hostel, our guide Christopher, staff at the lodge, and Antonio who provided a personalised service. Going at the conclusion of the ‘wet’ was a bonus (this was suggested by Antonio) and it enhanced our whole experience, especially travelling around in their strong, wooden canoes.
