This tour was excellent. Everything flowed from airport pickup, the Manaus Hostel, travel to the Lodges on the Rio Urubu, the guides, the lodge facilities, the program of activities, and mix of people coming, staying and going. Staying at the Manaus Hostel was well worth it. It is clean, well run, with good rooms, a good breakfast, interesting artwork, and excellent customer-focussed staff.

Like a lot of places in Brazil, the Hostel and Lodges and Brazilian roads could do with some maintenance. However there appeared to be a program of maintenance and improvement underway during our stay at the Lodges.

The whole experience is good value for money and we appreciated the assistance of all the staff at the Hostel, our guide Christopher, staff at the lodge, and Antonio who provided a personalised service. Going at the conclusion of the ‘wet’ was a bonus (this was suggested by Antonio) and it enhanced our whole experience, especially travelling around in their strong, wooden canoes.

Very organised, amazing lodge, super clean, knowledgeable guides and an amazing tour. If you go upstream (which we did, highly recommended) don’t expect to see many animals, but you will have a fantastic jungle experience camping in the forest, making plates and spoons, fishing and canoeing. And there really are no mosquitoes.

We stayed at the Urubu River Lodge -beautifully situated, good food and helpful friendly staff - as this was the end of rainy season large areas of jungle still flooded - made for wonderful boat trips up and down waterways with amazing birdlife. Cristovo is a wonderful guide - kind, friendly and knowledgeable. Good value for money- and Antonio's Hostel Manaus in Manaus city is a great place to stay too

Brazil is an incredible country and this tour was a wonderful gem to uncover. We were picked up at the airport in Manaus, taken to our hotel, picked up at our hotel and taken to the bus depot that delivered us to a little village where we boarded a little motorboat and cruised to the lodge. The lodge is clean and the artwork is simply incredible. Jungle James was our guide and he accompanied us right from Manaus. We went for a hike around the grounds and learned about some of the plant life there, went canoeing, swam in the Arubu River, fished for piranha, ate amazing food, caught and released a little caiman, learned a lot about the local ecological life, hiked, camped in the jungle, visited a farm- you will be busy! James was an exceptional guide, we enjoyed his company. We also greatly appreciated the hospitality of everyone at the lodge, it truly was an incredibly rich experience. If you're an adventure seeker, I would highly recommend that you go on this tour. We stayed at Antonio's Hostel when we returned to Manaus and it is deserving of it's own review, which I will do, and exceeded my expectations. Two thumbs way up for the overall experience.
