Great

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Oct 2011
Really really incredible food, the best we had in 3 months in South America by far. Good views as well from nice rooms and good hosts, pretty crazy at times but good intentions. Would recommend this to anyone! We stayed 5 days after a disappointing 2 nights at Sol Y Luna down the road...

the hotel is run by a french couple, so you will find a lot of french tourists there, but not only.

The room "matrimonial" with private bathroom was 70 bol per person. Ours was on the other side of the swimming pool so it was quite with a great view (take your flashlight for the night as the path with stairs is quite dark).

The hotel is a bit outside of the town, which can be good on week-end when Coroico is full of people and music in the street. However, the "noise" of the various birds woke me up a lot, but I guess it is better than drunk people shouting in the street ;)

The swimming pool is off decent size and good to have after a hiking day around the town.
The best for us was the restaurant ! Finally some decent and even good food in Bolivia. Best caipirinha ever only for 15 bol. We had delicious lama steaks, risotto with roquefort cheese (french bleue cheese) and lamb curry. Was always really good. Unfortunatly we never made it to try their "crepes".

If you can't stay there, at least go there for diner.

After diner we came to the pub where was live music and the hotel owners were there as well, we danced together, we had a good time. I highly recommand it.

I heard about this place from some people who had mentioned the restaurant that is run at this lodge is fantastic. They were right. I only spend two nights here, but both nights I had extraordinary food! The first night I had llama goulash which was llama pieces in an amazing sauce. The second night I had llama with a cheesy type sauce, I think the dish was called Llama a la roquefort. Again, fantastic.

In the mornings, their breakfast was great and everything was homemade. Jelly was tasty as was the bread and eggs.

Staying there was a treat as well. Their prices are great and the rooms were clean. They have a nice looking pool although when I was there, it was a little too chilly and rainy to use the pool. In good weather, the views from the lodge would be great, except I didn't see anything because it was foggy and cloudy the whole time.

All in all, I'd give this place a thumbs up, and it is run by a nice couple who are doing their best to make your stay great.

Location wise, it is a little outside the village of Coroico, but a taxi ride there is cheap enough and if the weather is nice (or even when it's not nice), you can walk into town in about 8 minutes.

Oh, as for food prices, they were very reasonable for what you got, and bfast wasn't included with the hotel stay, but again was extremely reasonable.
