We recently spent a memorable Thanksgiving at the "George Washington Townhouse" in Alexandria, VA. We were within walking distance of the river, shopping and many great restaurants. The owner has exhibits and reading material describing the history of the area and actual drawings of the townhouse created by Washington. A very pleasant place to enjoy the area while staying in a piece of history. There is parking for two cars behind the home, parking is limited in Alexandria this is a plus.
The Vietnamese restaurant Caphe Banh Mi and the Warehouse were excellent, we missed Gadsby's Tavern will not miss it on our return trip. The Torpedo Factory Art Center is a great attraction along with Old Town. The Pentagon is 15 min from the townhouse the 911 memorial is a moving tribute to victims on the plane and in the Pentagon. When finished you are minutes away from the Capitol and the museums.
I had such an amazing time in George Washington’s Home! What an incredible experience and feeling, our first president actually stayed here! Everything about the place was adorable, all the American themed things and historical artifacts. I absolutely loved the place. You CANNOT beat the location of the place! Just steps away from all the action in Old Town, Alexandria. Bars and restaurants were very easy to get to. Parking for the place was also easily accessible! I also loved the backyard garden. Like a secret hideaway! Will definitely recommend to all my friends. Could not have asked for a better experience! Tom was a wonderful host. He was quick to respond to me if I had any questions and made me feel welcome in his home. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!
