The location is perfect if you want to ski both Snowbird and Alta. To Snowbird you walk less than 50 yards and can ski down to the Peruvian chair or Arial tram. Coming back take Whodunnit off Chips Run and look out for a short track off to the right as you get back towards the resort. 100 yards down there and you are back where you started. This is straightforward for intermediates and above (but Snowbird is not a good resort for beginners anyhow). To Alta the Alta shuttle picks up right outside the apartment - you give them a call and they come pretty quickly - the longest we waited was 15 minutes. You can ski back from Alta on a black diamond run, I tried to find it twice but got a bit lost and ended up back at Wildcat so in the end we just used the shuttle back.
The apartment itself is clean, comfortable and well equipped, we were meant to be 4 people but ended up being just two as my son injured himself playing Rugby. It would have been plenty big enough for 4 certainly and can accommodate 6.
Alta Chalets were very efficient and helpful around all the arrangements and LauraLee who I exchanged several emails with was most helpful in things like getting passes, taxis and groceries arranged.
One thing to note is that there are no grocery stores in Alta/Snowbird except one tiny one. We got a private hire and did all the grocery shopping we needed on the way up in SLC using Smith's Click and Collect service. That plus a trip to the Liquor store set us up for the week with a couple of meals out. I was glad we used the taxi service rather than renting a car and driving ourselves as the canyon road has restrictions and when it snows here, man does it snow. Since rental companies don't seem to be able to guarantee 4 WD and snow tyres I would be very cautious of renting. Once in resort you don't need a car.
Alta and Snowbird are great resorts we loved Mineral Basin in Snowbird and had one of best ever days skiing in Alta in thigh deep light champagne powder.. We skied 4 days Alta and 3 days Snowbird and there is plenty to do - you will not get bored. As advised by LauraLee we used the Ski City Superpass which lets you ski either place - you have to upgrade it if you want to ski both places on the same day but we never found the need to do that.
If I was to come back to Alta/Snowbird and I very well may then I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
I would definitely recommend staying at the View. The location is amazing....ski-in/ski-out to Snowbird and a short, free shuttle to Alta. The condo was clean, spacious, and the view was amazing. Lauralee at Alta Chalets was outstanding. She made planning the trip easy and made sure we had everything we needed.
My husband, son 14, daughter, 11 and I stayed here in March 2017, there was definitely more room. You could easily fit six people comfortably. The location was perfect for ski in and out. The condo was spacious and beds were comfortable. We drove 40 minutes to Solitude and Brighten and skied there one day. Skied Alta one day and Snowbird the others. Lauralee who works at Alta Chalets is amazing! She will hook you up with what ever you need before you arrive. We bought discounted lift tickets through her which provided us access to all the ski resorts within the area. Lauralee reserved our car rental and provided us with an app that had all of the rental information including address, directions, restaurants etc. Can't say enough about the customer service!! We will definitely stay again!!!
