Owner description: A museum celebrating the history of the railroad in industrial America.
Reviewed 16 May 2018

This is not another train museum where all you do is look at trains. This is more about the history of the Pennsylvania Railroad, the people that built the railroad and the city of Altoona. It has lots of historical artifacts. The museum also built scenes in the museum depicting what life was like back then. For example, they have a home, a bar and various work scenes. It is really impressive. They have plenty of videos that you can watch.
They also do have actual rail equipment. Some of it is outside and some inside a roundhouse. Some of it is in decent condition while some of it is poor condition. You can go through some of the equipment.
I would definitely go again and recommend to anyone.

Exhibits are well done. Price is reasonable. Here's a chance to learn some railroading history. The interactive feature controlling a train adds a nice touch. Easy to make you way through all there is to see.

This museum has alot to see. The best part is to get out into the train yard and see all of the different cars and engines they have. Charles Shawbs car the Loreto is very cool.
