This is a lovely expanse of green with gardens, lawned areas, ponds and a selection of statues and monuments to famous Philippine heroes, especially Jose Rizal. It is very pleasant for walking and sitting listening to birdsong and different types of music being played over the sound system.
As I said in the title this is truly an oasis in a very busy city.

One of the most visited green park in Manila and also known as Luneta Park. A historical urban park with historical markers, open stadiums, and gardens where Rizal Monument lies as a center of attraction. Located along Roxas Boulevard, Manila, adjacent to the old walled city of Intramuros, it is one of the largest urban parks in Asia.

The memorial guard is impressive here.

Significant mile post zero for Manila is across the street.

Great plaque to the people of the Philippines celebrating independence from the US (without the need for another war).

July 4, 1946 by Harry Truman.

Well worth a stop.

The park is dedicated to Rizal and there is a statue at the end nearest the bay along with a well manicured grass area. I assume you are meant to know who the guy is as there is no mention of his achievements. The more wooded/interesting areas either side are fenced and support hundreds of people living rough in makeshift tents.

I have been there as part of our field trip back in college and it was worth a visit. However, what I did not like were the bystanders constantly looking at tourists and children following you around, asking for money. I have nothing against it, although it was quite annoying because you
wouldn't be able to enjoy your visit there without worrying for your safety. And since it's considered a place of historical significance, they should maintain the pristine condition of the place and do something the issue.
