I went do Dong Bei after viewing the Food Tour video of Manila’s Chinatown on YouTube thinking it was something extraordinary....but...it was nothing special and tastes like any other dumplings. I’ve actually had better. The servers were nice and courteous as a consolation, however. Yet...I probably will try other restaurants instead of coming back.

The dumplings? The best. The service? Not so. Hopefully the service and the resto design will improve.

2nd time to visit this hole-in-the-wall as part of our Binondo gastronomic tour, there's 5 tables that can seat 5-6 persons, however they use 1 table to prepare their dumplings. Crew seems to be more concerned about the sliding door (they tell customers, rather rudely, to be close it at all times, to prevent flies from getting in) rather than their customers.

We went to Dong Bei dumplings because it has a good review in the internet. Had a hard time looking for it and when we saw it i was a bit disappointed because it really was just a dumpling store that gives off a feeling that you don't want to eat inside.

Looking at the window you can see the staff making the dumplings barehanded. The glass windows were not clean and is splattered with flour and water mixture. Also, they're blocking the entrance and you have to squeeze yourself in before entering(or probably im just a big guy).

Upon entering, we found our own seat, nobody assisted us until after 5 minutes.

We ordered the simplest thing in the menu, the pork dumplings. I think they boil it in water quick instead of steaming it (or probably that's the feeling because i think it was steamed in a high water environment). I didn't like the watery feeling but with the sauce and dip made up for it.

Never coming back.

A place stuck in the past, and not necessarily welcoming. Locals eating quietly whilst waitresses are diligently preparing their dumplings. We only ordered a dish of pork dumplings... it was delicious
