The castle looks great from the outside and in particular the view from the top of the castle is spectacular. However its worth noting that the castle itself was built recently and is very modern inside (with some interesting displays on the history of the castle). The park is very well maintained and worth a walk around.

The queues can be quite dissapointing at times. Early riser would definitely benefit from the queue. The long queue is for machine ticket and the shorter queue is for discounted ticket using Railpass etc. Comprises of 4 floors showcasing Japanese History and arts collection. Another queue inside is for the elevator to the top floor. Others may opt to climb on foot to each floors. Coming down via stairs is the only option for now. The view from the top is something not to be missed. There is souvenir shop on the top floor and it is very crowded as it display on counter with one staff. Ground level has souvenir snack store and costume rental. Toilets are available on certain sides and always full.

We went to Osaka castle, and while outside it was really nice, the inside felt like a waste of money. It’s modern inside, and most of the items on display were replicas. The view was nice, although the chicken wire fencing distracted from the view, and ruined any chance of a good picture of the scenery.

Go for the park which is free, and do not pay to go inside for the museum.

You must visit the castle and it’s park when you visit Osaka.
From far you can see the castle rising over other buildings and when you come near and see the pond around it, it looks like in a fairytale.
The castle is rebuild a couple of times but it still has the magic from then.

Amazing! Beautiful construction and gardens. The biggest Castle in Osaka city, with many sakura blossoms in spring season.
