I can't say this is one of the best since we had better in Kyoto but this one is definitely a good one in Osaka. We had 3 different Pork, Seafood and Beef Okinomiyachi and love all three. Although they were a bit small which we should have order 4 for 3 people. Overall we like it and will definitely try it again if we ever visit Osaka again.

We chose Kiji near the Umeda Sky building for our Osaka okonomiyaki, and we were not disappointed. There was a wait of about 30 minutes, but in Japan, when there was a wait, the place has always been worth the wait. The host greeted us, took our order, sat us at a traditional okonomiyaki table, and in a few minutes, we had our delicious pork and shrimp "pancakes". They are not only delicious, but fun to eat. Just make sure you come with an appetite because they are big and filling. If you're not big eaters, maybe share one between two people. Enjoy!

Arrived there ard 8.15 pm and wait in line for 15 mins just to get informed that we cant queque anymore because they are full and close at 21.30 so cant accomodate anymore ppl.

We walk all the way there to get a taste of good okonomiyaki which we had before just to get rejected?!?!? Come on show us tourists some appreciation for going all the way there. We arrived like 8pm ish one hours before closing time not like we arrived at 9pm just to get rejected.

The food we had before was good but if we know we would be rejected we wont walk all the way there just to waste 1 hours to be rejected.

They should put sign arrive before 8pm or else go somewhere else!!!!

We had to get some food ard dotonburi area since 9pm most resto are close.
Should have gone to other restaurant instead.

Dont bother to come there late especially 8pm above!!!!!

Thank Alexander M

This was a difficult restaurant to find in the basement of the Umeda Sky Building. However, once we did find it we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food.

The entire basement area was designed to look like a historical Japanese town so that made it nice to wander through as we hunted for this restaurant. However, once inside it was a bit more modern with both bar and table seating. The walls and ceilings were covered with previous customers photos, business cards, foreign currency, napkins, etc. that were left behind like grafitti to document their visit to Kiji. It was pretty cool to see and read their notes as we waited for our meal.

The staff were very friendly when we entered and then quickly seated us when a table opened up. The wait was only 10 minutes.

Since the menu was only in Japanese, our host recommended trying a sampling of their Okinomiyakis: seafood (squid and shrimp), pork (bacon) and yakisoba noodles. The food was cooked on the big cooktop in front of the bar seats and then transferred to the table and kept warm on our own hot plate built into the table. We could not decide which one tasted the best as all were very good.

Service was good as our water glasses were often refilled and we were checked on periodically to see how we were enjoying our food.

After we finished eating, there was a line out of the door into the aisleway. All were locals. As we walked away no other restaurant on the floor had a line waiting to get in.......

You can look down Osaka city on the roof top. A small garden is on the ground but it’s not pretty. Not many shops are in the building though.
