If you are looking for variety Japanese food and cuisin. This is the place to see. The place is about 2 kilometer walk. Inside is clean and variety place to eat or eat by the side walk. My favorite is the Tempura place. The foo is great. They do accept cards.

Naturally you can visit this market with food stalls, restaurants and souvenir shops by yourself. I choose to do a two hour tour together with Ninja Tours of this market. I enjoyed every moment of it with my lovely and informative guide Moe. I got more information about the market, the food but also about daily life in Japan and Kyoto. She also pointed out spots to visit later on (also for Osaka). Really great experience. Certainly plan to come here and taste some of the food.

Nishiki market is packed with tourists most of the time so better be ready.

There are a lot of stores that sells a variety of items, from seafoods to souvenirs.

What’s fun is that they give out free tastes to some of the food that they are selling.

This place is visually attractive and very interesting with hundreds of things to examine, to buy and to eat. It is also covered, so if the weather is inclement then you will not be impeded. We went on a Thursday, and it was still quite crowded, so I suspect Saturday and Sunday would be far worse? There is limited air-conditioning too, so it gets warm! But still it is well worth visiting. Plan to have lunch there in any one of hundreds of outlets. We chose “Meat & Wine”, right in the Centre, next to an excellent knife and kitchenware shop. Very good!

Loved loved loved this market! I must have eaten my weight in food as I went from one end to the other. For fresh seafood lovers, this is a must visit. The prices are a little bit cheaper than cbd too! Highly recommend.
