Saryo Hassui (Tea House Hassui) is located right after entering Suiran. It's a small tea house surrounded by big glasses from floor to ceiling. Obviously, this is for allowing the guests to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the river and mountain that stand right in front of you with an astonishing impact.
The terrace facing the river is the best place to enjoy the scenery because you can even smell the nature. However, in July and August which are the hottest months of Arashiyama, staying inside the tea house may be a better idea.
As SPG Platinum member, we are offered some sweet treats - traditional green tea jelly set. They are wonderful both in appearance and in cooling effect. After the sweets, 4:30-6:30pm, we are further offered champagne free flow for 2 hours.
The next day, we went back to Saryo Hassui for some drinks and snacks on our own. The menu is reasonably priced and the cake and coffee are nicely presented with tasted very good.
Even for those not staying in Suiran, Saryo Hassui is a good relaxing point as its tranquil and relaxing moments you can enjoy there are something you will certainly remember and miss after leaving Arashiyama.
