This is a large mountainous park which has a Taoist feel to the place. There is the usual small entry fee paid at the gate, and during festivals you will be able to purchase seasonal fruits. There is a number a trails further up the mountain and you can get in amongst the blossoms in the orchards up there. There is also some kind of shooting/paint ball range at the very top which would keep some people very involved. The temple itself is under construction and sits in the centre of the park, but it is very peaceful and serine. A very cool stream runs throughout the park and you can follow it up through bonsai gardens, different plantations and different types of trees.
The park can be busy on the weekends, but quiet during the week. To get here, take the subway to the second last stop on the blue line and walk 20 minutes , taxi or bike. You should combine this place with the botanical gardens across the street if you like nature.

Nice view but as with all old places, its just another old place with old architecture. It's ok, worth a short look.

One of most poetic or zen "禅" places you have to be in Kunming. It has very different faces across seasons. In late winter and early spring, it is the best place to see the plum flowers in trees and bonsaI, which is most beautiful Chinese horticulture art. During summer time, with amazing green, u can experience one of the most zen places in KM, if u know a bit zen in Chinese culture. It will be even better, if you can read some Chinese written poems. U could enjoy the place even more.

The best time to come here is mid-January. By now, most of the plum blossoms are finished for the year.

Some of the most interesting plum trees here are old ones that have been cultivated in large pots 盆栽. They have been tended like Bonsai trees and bloom every year; fresh flowers on old, thick trunks, and deep root systems. Others are growing in the soil.

I had lunch at the Taoist temple. 8 Yuan for a selection of simple vegetarian dishes. The temple itself is having some roof repairs.

You can reach the park now pretty easily from city center by taking the Number 2 light rail line north. Get off at Long Tou Jie Stop 龙头街站。 That costs 4 Yuan. Then take the Number 9 city bus, and it brings you right to the main entrance 西门。The bus costs 2 Yuan.

Entrance fee is 20 Yuan.

Went there on a very cold rainy day(9 Jan 2015) when the plums flowers festival was on exhibition. These tiny pink flowers are worth viewing. Shame, it was a rainy day, so its delicate fragrance was hardly scented.
