Found this little gem whilst visiting St Petersburg. Greeted out of the cold with a homemade shot with vodka, superb friendly service, 3 courses of lovely food and then finished off with another homemade shot.Our waiter couldn't have been more helpful, getting a map and showing us some interesting places to visit, whilst helping us to also get the most from a really interesting and tasty menu. Top drawer and if we are ever back in St Petersburg we will definitely return.

Loved this restaurant. Super cool ambience, very chilled with an eclectic menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant for Russian classics with a twist.

Taste to Eat benefits from friendly staff; excellent ingredients; kitchen staff who can really cook; and, beautifully simple decor. You’re left; however, asking whether some of the taste / flavour combinations should really have been put together. There is a fine line between inventive and ill-judged.

Take, for example, the turkey with red cabbage and tangerine sauce: individually, each item was wonderfully cooked but as a rounded dish, it didn’t gel. Similarly, the chocolate ganache was superb but serving it with parsley sauce should never have been considered.

All things considered, I’d still recommend Taste To Eat if you want to try good Russian produce prepared by a kitchen which is keen to challenge established norms.

Large group of us enjoyed a meal end of February. The food is excellent. The meringue dessert was delicious and an interesting experience. The local vodka went down very well, as did the wine, and cider. Staff were excellent and very accommodating. Thoroughly recommended.

When we arrived we were greeted very apologetically with the news that they had a power failure in the kitchens and might not be able to provide hot food... but that definite news would emerge in about 10 minutes.

The place looked really interesting and we decided to go for it and ordered a bottle of sparkling Russian Pinot Noir and the restaurant's selection of appetizers ( a selection comprising a type of tapenade, dried meats, pate, cheese and suchlike. We also had their home made vodka and berry shots and a home made berry based lemonade.

By this time, the kitchen problems had been resolved and our main courses were innovative..... Beef with a corn based sauce and venison with puree of red cabbage.

Whilst this restaurant's offering cannot be classed a grande cuisine, it genuinely is innovative, interesting and quite delicious. The service is very good and the staff seem really interested in developing the concept.
