The hotel is on the banks of a canal 5 minutes from the Hermaitage, the Church of the Spilled Blood, the River Neva and many other stunning buildings and attractions. The room was well equipped and very comfortable and the food in the associated restaurant next door was delicious. What really made our trip perfect was the attitude of the staff who could not have been more helpful. Even in a city of such friendly people, Anna and her colleagues stood out.
St Petersburg has a historic centre, basically a semi circular district south of the river Neva. All the major landmarks are there, including the Faberge museum, and across the river is the Peter and Paul fortress where, in the cathedral, the Russian Tsars and family members are buried. We did not use taxis or public transport as just about everything is in walking distance from the hotel.
We visited in late November and although cold, the snow added to the experience. Seeing the ice floes on the river was fascinating.
I would love to go again and would not hesitate to stay at the Pushka Inn.More
