One of the best museums that I have ever seen, if not the best. I made my reservation online which they call it “skip the line “ and it was very convenient. You will be confused to whether enjoy the architecture of the museum which was earlier the winter palace of the royal family, or the arts which were presented for different artists from all around the world. The Egyptian annex is a must every where which is the entrance the museum and then you will scroll between the different annexes per each country through a very organized way when following the map of the museum. The architecture is beyond imagination with all these covered walls and ceilings mixed with the finest artistic drawings besides the these fine paintings of the famous renaissance artists.

Amazing place. We took a private tour with ExpresstoRussia. Our guide Olga was excellent. She was even able to cut in the cue, it helped since there were only 4 of us, so a long cue of people let us cut in. The first section of the museum is the Winter Palace, and in my opinion, the best part of the museum. The rest of the buildings (there are several) are just regular museums, so I was not as impressed. The Winter Palace section is simply amazing. Make sure you stop and see the Peacock Clock.....

We were on a Celebrity Baltic Cruise and we have an overnight stay in St Petersburg and we visited this museum. It is so vast and the history of all its contents is amazing.

Incredible. The rooms even without the art are simply wonderful.
If you are into art allow 2 visits. Private guide is a bonus to avoid queues. Get in as it opens to see rooms without the masses. Out of peak season also a bonus.
