“The best place to stay in St. Petersburg”

I have stayed in a lot of vacation rentals around the world. This one has everything that I look for. The apartment is spacious, recently remodeled to a very high standard, impeccably clean, and right in the center of town. This part of St. Petersburg can be busy at night (horses trotting by; white-night fireworks) but the double glazing mutes the noise. We (two couples) stayed ten days. After a week a thorough cleaning, including a change of linens, was done. There's plenty of room for storing and hanging clothes in the main bedroom. An open, large steamer trunk provides storage in the second bedroom. Bathroom fixtures and showers are modern. The kitchen appliances occupy a wall in the dining area, so are convenient for gathering around to prepare light meals. The living room can be separated from this by closing opaque glass sliding doors. Large windows look out on the street scene one level down. It is altogether a very good place to stay.

The owner was most helpful, prompt with answers to questions we had before we arrived, and quick to return the security deposit, which got back to PayPal before we got home.

We didn't find anything negative. The entry hall to the building itself is a bit shabby, but that's nothing the owner can fix, and you forget it when you enter the apartment. Furnishing in the two large rooms is a bit spare, and another table or so might have been useful for us, but that's a decorating decision that provides the spaciousness of the rooms. In all, this is a rare opportunity to live in a modern, we'll-maintained apartment in the center of town.

“White night, every night”

The apartment is spacious, very well presented, has all amenities you are likely to need and the owners were both great to deal with - we had no problems in this regard. The general fit out and decor is tasteful and as seen in the photos, bedrooms will adequately cater for two adults each and the sofa's in the lounge and dining area would also adequately cater for more people. The kitchen is well appointed and everything you need you can find.

I'd like to give this apartment a higher rating but for me one of the key uses is to relax and sleep, especially with long day outings in this lovely city and unfortunately there is quite a bit of noise and light to contend with at night in this apartment. In giving this review I am required to indicate whether I would recommend to a friend, for these reasons alone I would not recommend this apartment.

The location is excellent, on Bolshaya Morskaya, just 60 metres from Nevsky Prospect and 50 metres from Admiralteyskaya Metro station, the Hermitage is a 750 metre walk (as measured by Google). There are ample 24 hour shopping marts and some bigger supermarkets not far away.

Whilst this central location is a plus it comes with a cost as the apartment is on the first floor, so you tend to get a lot of noise from Nevsky Prospect (which is a 5 lane thoroughfare at this point) and from Bolshaya Morskaya - living in Central Hong Kong I didn't think the noise mentioned in a previous review would bother but you certainly hear the traffic. In addition, there is a McDonalds directly below, you don't hear the restaurant per se, but you can hear the occasional noisy patron leaving or chatting outside with friends - perhaps the fact that we were there during the 9th of May celebrations elevated noise levels a bit. And to be fair, I've not stayed elsewhere in St Petersburg, so if noise is not a bother then the overall quality of the apartment should be a sufficient offset.

The other issue with the first floor apartment is that the street lighting is literally just outside the windows and they are the usual lovely old world design, but rather bright. The window coverings (whilst tasteful and in keeping with the general decor of the apartment) are simply not sufficient to block out light at night, I found this very odd for a city that has such long days in the warmer months. The bedrooms have roller blinds and light drapes, the living areas have just the roller blinds.

Another general point on location for new visitors, St Petersburg has over 200 museums, we walked about the city easily (despite the fact that it was quite a wet week when we visited), so proximity to the Hermitage whilst great is not as relevant given the location of other sites of interest, particularly the spectacular Peterhof and Catherine Palaces which are quite a way out of the city.

If the external noise was abated and if there were black out drapes on the bedroom windows then I would have rated this apartment more highly, if these points aren't a bother to you then you should have no problems with this apartment.

I spent 6 days in St Petersburg with my sister and my parents, who are in their seventies. The apartment was really great, extremely clean and comfortable and with lots of facilities (washing machine, microwave, wifi, dishwasher, fully equiped kitchen and bathrooms, etc). The decoration is really beautiful to the minute detail. The owner's very detailed instructions about the flat and surroundings, and help with the taxi for the way back to the airport were very helpful and made the whole visit very smooth. Not to mention the location, in the heart on the city and practically next to the Hermitage!
Moneywise, it was cheaper that staying in a hotel, with the advantage that we could have our independence and enjoy relaxed breakfasts with bread from the excellent local bakery.
Being so well looked after has made our visit to St Petersburg a truly wonderful experience. I will not go back to SP unless I manage to stay in Bolshaya Morskaya 11 again.

we stayed there for 5 nights and it was perfect. the location is excellent, you can access everywhere by walk. the flat was fully renovated and very clean. the owners (both Peter, Yana and the caretaker) were very helpful. there was even a mobile phone with a fully charged simcard which you can use during your stay. if i go to st.petersburg again, i would definitely like to stay in the same flat. highly recommended...
